Guys, I'm going to build a new PC. Because I like to and the one I have now is getting slower, kind of. For being over 3 years old, it's still pretty fast. But I want something faster. So... If you have any ideas for the new rig let me know, I have the following ideas currently: - Liquid Cooling - 1 TB SSD (expensive, I know) - 16 GB RAM - Latest CPU.. no idea yet. - Some motherboard that works with everything. - Some psu - Whatever the latest GPU is nowadays. GeForce FTW! - Dual LED monitors - Antec 900 Also what do you think I should do with my current PC? Selling price? Edited by [ĦĦΞ]Paul[Co-L]{JC}, Aug 31 2014, 11:42 AM.

haha, I kinda feel the same way. Been meaning to upgrade, but I just don't have the cash. Well, about your current PC you could like keep the case,PSU,DVD Drives etc. And just sell the old tech separate on like Ebay or something. It's what I do if the old stuff from my current build will work in my upgrade. Liquid Cooling... I've never been a fan, but take a look at these for an example. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100008008&IsNodeId=1 Most of these will mount on the back of the PC case (where the exhaust fan goes) Easier and simpler then having tubes running everywhere. 1TB SSD?! I'm guessing we're looking at a no price limit build? Latest CPU wise, you have two choices. The AMD 8 CORE or the Intel 8 core. 1. AMD 8 CORE 2. Intel 8 CORE There is also an OC'd AMD 8 CORE for sale that comes with a cooling kit AMD 8 CORE COOLING KIT LGA 2011-3 Motherboards - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007627%20600533617&IsNodeId=1&Order=PRICE&Pagesize=20 AM3+ Motherboards - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007625%20600138080&IsNodeId=1&name=AM3%2b Nvidia Video cards - (high - low) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20600030348&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=PRICED&PageSize=20 But for right now it's either the 780 or the Titan, if you're looking at only Nvidia cards. Also, PSU wise, I don't see why you cant keep your current one. Unless you go SLI it should be fine. Usually a single CPU and GPU setup doesn't consume that much power, that a 650Watt/600Watt corsair PSU couldn't handle. (tho I forget which PSU you bought from Corsair) Could you tell me which series it's from? |

Ahahaaha, what a great pun. I think I'll sell everything except the DVD drive and PSU. My current PSU is a 600W corsair (CMPSU-600C-X), are you sure it can power these other parts? It isn't a no-price limit build. For instance I'm not shelling out more than 500 bucks on a GPU. Hopefully the total price of everything comes below or near $2k. Can you pick a GPU for me? Lol, last time I picked my own, I picked a dud as you know Damn Cyclone. I'd be willing to go SLI if the additional GPU keeps the price in the $2k range. Also do you need a specific GPU to be able to do dual monitors or do all latest GPUs support that?Sent my current cart in Newegg to your email. Let me know if everything is compatible. I'm going to keep my current monitor and go dual 23". EDIT: One more thing, I'll be going with Windows 7, hopefully I can dig up the torrent you sent me those many years ago. And I'm going with air cooling since I've heard it's more reliable. Edited by [ĦĦΞ]Paul[Co-L]{JC}, Sep 1 2014, 09:32 AM.

Okay about your current PSU it has 40Amps on the +12 volt rail. (which both the cpu and the gpu use) Say your CPU uses 10 amps on full load and your GPU uses 20 amps on full load. That's a 30 amp load on a 40 amp rail. (which is well within spec and fine) As long as you dont add too many more fans, dvd drives, or Hdds. This PSU will work just fine with a single 780 and a single amd 8 core cpu. Tho, I doubt you could even fit enough extra parts to even max out the load. lol And in math... AMD CPU 125 watts / 12 = 10.416666 Geforce 780 250 Watts / 12 = 20.833333 The GPU you picked is a good one I'd say, probably would have been the one I picked. That 6GB of Video Ram will help alot, vs the normal 3GB the 780s come with. And it's not worth getting the Ti version, just OC this card (if it will even matter) Besides the Ti version only comes with 3GB of Video ram. This card is the better deal, by far. I think my 9800 GT could do dual monitors... so yes, all new cards should. (unless they're budget crap cards) http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-780/specifications (Multi Monitor - 4 displays) As for SLI, that's really up to you if you want two 780s. But, I doubt you'd need that kind of power. Everything looks good in your shopping cart. Are you trying to save money on the motherboard? There are better ones made by Asus. Tho, that board will work just fine for everything regardless. I could link you to another Windows 7 Torrent that I think would work out okay. -> http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/10833125/Microsoft.Windows.7.Ultimate.SP1.x64.Integrated.August.2014-by_M This one sounds great to me! Then just download Daz's Loader. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/54168-Windows-Loader-Download?p=120996&viewfull=1#post120996 And since you say you're going with air cooling, I'd get a better CPU cooler. I hear the stock one that comes with the AMD 8 core is very annoyingly loud. The Hyper 212 Evo is a good one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 This is what I use now, sooo much more quiet and better... |

Okay I won't SLI and I'll keep the PSU I have. Will that Hyper 212 fit any CPU? Just curious. Thanks for all the tipz :] I will probably be building it in Dec as a 3 year anniversary. |

Says it works with these sockets: Intel Socket LGA 1150/2011/1366/1155/1150 AMD Socket FM1/FM2/AM3+ Tho, I'm sure it works with other older sockets, my AM2+ socket inst listed and it works. But, I don't think the design of the AMD CPU sockets has changed much from socket AM2. (2006) Also... here's a mirror link to Daz's Windows Loader. (I don't see a download link on the forum anymore) https://mega.co.nz/#!9EZykYgb!W9mqDAv3cnT0u2qeJm_Ex79gXNXh_7iUomgH1mjeZq0 Will you be buying the parts now, or waiting until Dec? It probably would be a good idea to buy the parts you want when you find em, stores like Newegg sell certain items for awhile then they can go out of stock or the part is discontinued forever. Like for ex. that 780 with 6GB, stuff like that goes pretty fast and usually custom cards like that have a limited production to begin with. After they stop making the card, good luck finding one on Ebay for a grand.

Yes, they do. But it all depends on them still having the parts to buy in Dec when they would be on sale. You may end-up buying a different mobo/vid card, because they are gone. It's happened to me before, now I just buy sight on scene. Better to have what you want, then having to settle for something you really didn't want. Tho, I would think the rest of your parts would still be around and even if not, there are other versions that aren't that much more money. That 780 with 6GB video ram is a custom made one from 3rd party manufactures, I don't look for it to be around very long. I remember there was a custom GTX 285 with 2GB Ram (normal one is 1GB) I think that was only sold for maybe a year... Then people turned it around on ebay for twice the price or more. Same shit happens with discontinued motherboards and etc. Take this mobo for ex. This one I was maybe thinking of getting, then it gets discontinued and the only way you can buy it now is in AU for overinflated prices. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASROCK-FATAL1TY-990FX-PROFESSIONAL-/400758361593?pt=AU_Components&hash=item5d4f0f4df9 /end rant
