Does anyone here actively engage in any kind of investing or trading (equities, debt, etc) or are we all too young to be talking such things? |

I both invest with my family and by myself. I pulled my money out of the stock market about 24 months ago (so I missed the worst of it) and in the last 6 months have begun investing again, especially in banks etc. To put it simply both my family and I have "extremely diverse" investments ranging from bonds to property. In the next 10 years I hope to invest more in the property market (many in my family own 3-4 properties and have them rented out etc). I had money in Canadian Banks and never took them out, they were still making a profit and paying dividends through this whole mess so that is my longest term investment. Of note: In my family you usually begin investing around 15. By then you are expected to have a good fundamental of economics. |

Well, that's interesting. You're very lucky. I've become extremely knowledgeable about the financial sector of the economy over the last few years or so, and so I am the ever eager investor who doesn't have any money to play with. So instead, I give financial advice to others, and try to analyze the market for when I do in fact have enough K to dish out. Anyway, personally, (we can discuss my policies in another topic) the only "investments" I have made is to convert my savings account into gold and silver bullion. I've also just opened a FOREX currency trading account where I plan to short the dollar every time it is destined to fall. Other than that, I have to wait until I save up enough money to throw into equities. I had a good amount of bonds since I was a kid, but I recently cashed them out because of inflation. |

I won't invest because there's some things even I wouldn't touch.

I owned shares in a company but I was given a very good offer ($13.50 per share when they were trading at around $8.44 per share beforehand) so I took it and made some money. |
