I've never done this before, but I've read enough to know how to write them :P. My first tutorial is going to be simple - it's how to do my avatar ![]() We are going from to ![]() 1/ Open your picture and crop it 2/ Create a new fill layer (Layer>New fill layer>Solid colour) and fill with colour #3a677f. Place this layer on 'vivid light' with the opacity set at 25% 3/ Take this texture and paste above the previous layers, set to screen with the opacity at 100%You're done! What did I say, easy, huh ?

I was in a tutorial mood, so I'm going to show you how to do this -> ![]() 1. Take your base, crop it, sharpen it and all that stuff 2. Create a new layer and fill with #020049. Set it to exclusion with 100% opacity 3. Create another layer and fill with #bababa. Set it to soft light with 100% opacity 4. Create a new adjustment layer, selective color and use settings similar to these YELLOWS C: +65 M: +31 Y: -57 B: +31 5. Duplicate your base and drag it above the selective color layer. Set to soft light at 100% opacity. And your done! I'd love to see results! |

And another lol We're going from to ![]() 1. Take your base, crop it, sharpen it and all that stuff 2. Duplicate your base and set it on screen or multiply, depending on whether your icon is to light or to dark, play around with the opacity. 3. Create a new layer, fill it with #350000, set it on exclusion at 100% opacity 4. Create a new channel mixer layer, and us similar settings. RED: R: +96 G: +29 B: -24 C: 0 GREEN: R: +10 G: +100 B: -4 C: 0 BLUE: R: +1 G: +5 B: +114 C: 0 5. Create a new layer, fill it with #d4efff, set it soft light at 100% opacity 6. Create a new selective colour layer and use settings similar to these RED: C: -32 M: +64 Y: -63 B: +45 YELLOW: C: +24 M: +19 Y: +26 B: +57 BLACK: C: 0 M: 0 Y: 0 B: +49 7. Duplicate your base layer and drag it to the top of your selective color layer, desaturate it (ctr+shift+u) and place on soft light at 100% opacity. You're done! Edited by Luc, Sep 26 2008, 05:08 PM.

This colouring doesn't work with all pictures, but most of them. Another icon I made with this colouring is the following Demi Lovato one...
