| .|. Aeterna Roma .|.] Q.U.I.C.K. L.I.N.K.S .Rules. | F.A.Q | Applications | Canons Aeterna Roma, Eternal Rome.... It has been over one hundred years since the civil wars that destroyed the Roman Republic, and now the mighty Roman Empire stands in dominance over their entire world. It is a time of peace in Rome--the Pax Romana--as the Caesars have expanded the imperial borders and created the most powerful fighting force in the world. However, that peace is now threatened. After over ten years of ruling through peace and prosperity, Emperor Julius Augustus was assassinated by Camillus Dexsius of the Julii. Camillus, an ambitious young man who was jealous of the Imperial Line's moving away from his family, had conspired with a group of followers to become Emperor following Augustus' death. However, rather than anoint Camillus as Emperor, a man named Manius Sabucius was named in Caesar's will as his son and, with the backing of the military through a respected general, Flavius Alexander, and the Senate through a powerful senator, Lucius Cornelius Scipio, Manius became Emperor. Camillus, furious, managed to keep his part in the conspiracy a secret. After three years of relative peace, things in Rome are beginning to grow dark as the Pax Romana verges on ending. People in the region of Greece, led by Menadides of Epirus, have risen up in defiance of Rome and declared open rebellion, securing an alliance with the Dacians in the north. Meanwhile, Flavius Alexander has died, emboldening the barbarians in Gaul and Germania to once again exert themselves against Roman military might. What will happen? Will Manius be able to keep the hungry, worried mob happy long enough to stay in power? Will the Greeks be able to be kept down and the barbarians kept at bay? Will Camillus and his cohorts manage to successfully lead a coup and assassinate Manius, or will one of Rome's ambitious generals or senators make a move for power? You decide. Senators, slave, generals, infantry, barbarians, citizens, merchants, travelers, and all of the Roman World have a part to play in Aeterna Roma.
