Annie immediately liked the Eleanor girl. She seemed smart and independent and just the kind of girl she would like to be friends with. Unlike that horrid absolutely horrid Madeleine Conrad who embraced everything she stood against. She had come across a volume of Shakespeare and pulled it down from the shelf when the others were finally come to talk to her. She had been glad she controlled herself this time. She certainly hadn't when the others were meeting with each other, now had she? But she couldn't hold it in when rights were being talked about. Women had just about as much right to vote as men in her opinion and it was sad for her to see women who gave themselves less of a power.
"I'm sure you could look for great literature. I recommend Dickens most of all and the ever splendid Thomas Payne. Both revolutionaries I believe. They should be here somewhere." She paused a little and waited for the two to say something. She would do better about talking so much. It was definitely one of her problems lately that was probably backing off some of the girls from liking her. But she couldn't help it. When she got excited, she wanted to talk about it and Annie was excited most of the time. It really wasn't the best combination indeed but she was sure she could live with it for now. She would just have to get better control of it later on if she could. If she had to...But at least her mother wasn't there constantly plaguing her with the details of manners that she didn't have. That had gotten seriously old after a while and at least here she had some sort of freedom.
