Emeline Iris Burgess![]() Staff: Social Sciences Age:25 Height: 5'0" Weight:155 lbs Build and Carriage:Very short, None too skinny, though none too fat either Hair Color and Style:Black, worn in an up-do Eye Color: Dark Brown. Race/Ethnicity:White - English Complexion: Fair Indepth Description: Emeline Burgess is not known at all for her teaching style. She's much more known for her figure - which is quite risque for a girls' school. She tightlaces her corsets - to the point where she has a very, very thin waist. She likes the attention that it derives from men. Her features seem to be much more suited to an actress on the West End rather than a schoolteacher. She has high, high cheekbones, which she always emphasizes with rouge - something that women of the era shouldn't dare use, though she wears much more copious amounts of makeup when in the company of men. Her lips are small, her eyes wide, and her very appearance exudes a vivacious, and almost infectious charm. Country of Origin:England Date of Birth: April 29th, Parents: Baron Andrew Burgess Baroness Winnifred Burgess Siblings and other relatives: Sister - Lady Faith Burgess (30) Brother - Lord Daniel Burgess (28) Close Friends: Lady Amelia Cavendish Character History: The Baron and Baroness Burgess were people that enjoyed the rights of other human beings. They were known to be people that were a little bit more left of center, and it was relatively well-known that they were. As a result, most of the Burgess children were brought up that way. Emeline was their baby. Being the baby, Emeline was the one that was showered with the most affection, even though her parents tried very hard to be fair with all of their children. Out of her siblings, Emeline was the one that was the most outgoing. She was the one that held impromptu plays in her yard, and sang popular songs, and even danced around. But what helped Emeline the most was that she was a relatively bright young girl, with very, very strong convictions. She was a girl that was driven to seeing a world full of happiness - one where world peace was the order of the day. She didn't like the segregated society that was part of her world, and she was overjoyed when she met people from other cultures. To most of the English, this was a bit strange, but to her parents, it was just their darling Emeline. That's was what she did. While Emeline was expected to be like the girls of her age, and marry into a family of wealth and a title, Emeline didn't do that. She went off for an education. It was here when her convictions became even stronger. She enrolled into a Women's university, and graduated Cum Laude. Due to her extensive education, however, she found herself to be a relatively lonely woman - something that disturbed her. She had wanted to marry a man that was like her father, at least. So, she began her rigid regime of tightlacing. Daily, she would wear corsets, tightly laced, pining for the attention of men. She consistently got it too. She also padded her bosom and her hips to make herself more of a commodity, and even more attractive. Still, she held to her convictions. At an event in 1899, she met Lady Amelia Cavendish. The two became very good friends, and after the situation of the Pennington Family leaving England, she was immediately signed on as an instructor, though with quite a bit of controversy due to her liberal beliefs and her risque image. Personality: Spirited, Emeline is a person that many could consider as being overly gay. She's cheerful to her heart, which is partially why she and Headmistress Cavendish are such good friends. When a person messes up, she's never angered by this, but always tries very much to help them regain their composure. She doesn't harp on the bad things that people have done, and is always, always interested in the betterment of people, and not in seeing them downtrodden or unhappy. Because of her desire to see the world into a better place, she's a feminist and is an anti-racist activist. The problem with Emeline is that she's gullible and she can be easily described as being a sucker. It's easy to lie to her - and she doesn't get angry over being lied to - she simply is disheartened about it. Not many people have actually seen Emeline angry. However, one thing about Emeline is that she's very good at putting on a smiling face. She's very resilient, and can easily bounce back from things. Her forgiving nature also tends to help her in that, even though it, too, is a double-edged sword. Strengths: Sweet-natured Forgiving Resilient Vivacious Charming Spirited Fun Weaknessses: Too immature Too flirtatious Risque Bawdy Too Liberal Interests: Other Cultures Activism Suffrage Protests The Arts Singing Playing Piano Sex Education Pet Peeves: Smelly Men Bigoted Men. Quirks: Stands on her toes a little bit too much Putting her hands on her waist for emphasis or to adjust her corset Skills: Playing Piano Dancing Painting Acting Flower Arranging Sample Post: ((I already have characters here)) Edited by Headmistress Cavendish, Aug 30 2008, 10:00 PM.
