Böhmen Landtag
The Böhmen Landtag (Bohemian Diet) is the collection of the estates of the Kingdom of Bohemia. Meeting in Prague, one of the greatest commercial, cultural and political nexuses of the European continent and premier city of the eastern portion of the Holy Roman Empire, the Diet is representative of the popular will of the Bohemian estates. The role of the Bohemian estates remains significant and the Diet retains the power to withhold taxation and military support to the Habsburg Kings of Bohemia. The Diet retains a distinctly Protestant character, attesting to the efforts of the Hussites during the fifteenth century and a Germanized urban bourgeoisie that has become politically conscious of their minority-religious status within the realm.
