So if Pascal's wager is valid, should we worship every god known to humankind just to be safe?

Inspired by this youtube video:

I thought of asking this on Y!A but I'm pretty sure the trollbots would get it deleted fast.

Willow, I listened to you youtube link. I hope you caught the big fallacy from his rant! He says - “Because face it, they [other gods] are all equally as likely to exist as the God of the Bible”. This is completely false. There is only one God that represent the truth of our existence and that is the Christian God of the Bible. There is no other God that is backed by mountains of scientific evidence. There is no other God who came to earth and performed the miracles that Jesus did. There is no other “holy book” that is claimed to be authored by God himself. There is no other religion whose founder rose from the dead so everyone would know exactly who He was. There is no excuse for not believing Him.

Truth is objective, your claim is opinion and therefore subjective. The Christian God represents your view of the truth and that will most likely be a different view from even another Christian.

Please give sources for this mountain of scientific evidence. I have seen this claim countless times yet have never been given any scientific evidence to support this claim.

I do not believe that God has in fact come to earth and performed miracles. You do believe, but it is simply that...belief. It is not fact.

Claiming your "holy book" is authored by an infallible God is problematic for your cause. It requires you to explain away inconsistencies and errors that are present in the book. Most Christians realise this and limit themselves to claiming the bible is merely 'inspired' by God and any errors are man-made. I'd be interested in hearing your defense of the inconsistencies and errors.

Incorrect actually, but, despite that it is still simply your belief. There is no evidence that it actually happened.

I agree. I don't need excuses, I have reasons.

“Truth is objective…”

Yes, truth is objective. It is not my OPINION that the earth exists, we are living on its surface and I’m typing this message (unless you want to get into ethereal belief systems). I do not claim any truth on my own, so it is NOT “my view” or my opinion. The Bible itself claims to be TRUTH; I merely accept it based on logic and evidence.

“Please give sources…”

Come now! There are thousands of sources freely available on web, many of them peer reviewed, which provide scientific evidence to back the existence of God. If you’d like, I can provide a list of one’s I feel are most reliable that would be good sources for you to review, if you have any open mind at all. Otherwise, I would also be willing to diligently list the evidence, but I would request we start a separate thread for that as it will get quite extensive.

“I do not believe that God has in fact come to earth…”

It is a fact. Of course, you certainly do not have to accept it, which is the choice you have made.

“Claiming your ‘holy book’ is authored by an infallible God is problematic…”

As I’ve explained in another response, I am not aware of any inconsistencies and errors found in the Bible. I am, of course, aware that people CLAIM that they exist, but that’s just a BELIEF. It is not fact. Also, there is no difference between God being the “author” of the Bible and it having been “inspired” by God. The words that are written are the words God intended to have been written. Who did the actual writing is irrelevant. I’m happy that you are interested in hearing a defense of any inconsistencies and errors. Please provide ONE (and only one) that you would like to discuss.

“Incorrect actually [that Jesus rose from the dead]…”

How do you know it’s incorrect? Please provide evidence for your assertion. Certainly, you must be aware of the thousands of internet sites and reference materials which provide evidence for Christ’s resurrection. Therefore, you statement that there is no evidence is either said in ignorance (you are simply relying on atheist websites and failed to seek any other information) or deceit (you know there is evidence and have not acknowledged it). I would suggest that the evidence exists and you simply choose not to accept it.

“I agree. I don’t need excuses, I have reasons.”

That IS an excuse!
