Every time I ask a question I seem to get either outright hostility in return from the Abrahamic religions or semi-confrontational condescension from the Wiccans, as if I'm not smart enough to grasp the complexity of the subject and only deserve the vanilla answer. I don't get this from every person that answers but it happens more often than not. I have to assume it's the way I ask questions. Is there something about how I ask questions that comes across as arrogant or abusive? I'd really like to change it if there is.

Could you send a link to the questions so I can give you a better follow-up answer? I know within paganism there can sometimes be problems with people getting prickly over a sincere question. It's often because there's a sense of having to "protect" the community and religion since presently and in the past it has been under so much attack. Although pagans can also offend other pagans...we can be as bad, if not worse sometimes, in our theological disagreements as the Christians lol. |

I'll dig around in what's left of my questions and see what I can find. I had a few violations today and so added a few more to my ever growing list of blocked people. It stopped the violations.

Lol sounds like you've got a few Y!A stalkers. Actually I just realized that I can take a look at your questions too. On second thought I can't...you must have blocked me too rofl. Edited by Willow, Apr 15 2008, 04:49 PM.

Ok I took a look at a few. The one where I was very disappointed with the answers you got was about the Wiccan Rede. Perhaps they felt you were attacking it, but to me it seemed like a genuine, informed question. I guess there are just some individuals who get offended too easily .On your Summerland question I couldn't help but laugh a bit that someone said they had studied Wicca for years but hadn't heard of the concept. Hope that helps :). Also I can understand why you wonder about the Rede. I suppose that's why I combine traditions - I haven't found one that perfectly suits my ideas of the world. Although I like the Celtic Recon code of ethics. P.S. Your informed questions about paganism are refreshing. A nice change from the "can you give me a spell to change the colour of my eyes" variety of questions we usually get .

I guess I should have also said that I haven't asked many questions about Paganism with this account. I did have another account that was deleted that I asked most of my questions about Paganism with. I found that unless you have a 'reputation' for asking about Paganism then most Pagans don't really take your questions seriously. What I was referring to was probably on the other account. As with my name change, I sometimes forget I've had several accounts. lol, I saw one of those questions about changing the colour of their eyes a few days back. I usually recommend they audition for a spot on Charmed.

That's too bad if a lot of questions on paganism get ignored. I try to answer them whenever I see them - although I have to admit I don't respond when "what is Wicca" gets asked for the 10th time that day rofl. Hmm although I suppose with the bunch who believe in Harry Potter and Charmed magic we could have fun. "Fill a tub with eyes of newts and chicken livers. Bathe on a rooftop by the light of the full moon". They just might fall for it. Nah - I'm nice. |

I did laugh out loud. It could indeed be fun. It would be even more effective if everyone answered with the same answer. I didn't mean they were ignored exactly. I just found that if I had an account that asked mostly Pagan questions, I was more likely to get serious answers. It also helped that I was rather scathing to anyone who answered with the usual Christian answers about Satan and hell.
