Yep, I gues they do. If we instead made digital newspapers, it would mean everyone would only need to buy one. The digital newspaper would then change each day... depending on what you're reading. No more needless destruction of precious rainforest habitats.

Yes, but what about all the practical benefits of the paper? And digital newspapers could be easily broken... |

I think a digital newspaper could store a lot of past news in it's memory chip. And from what I have read about it, a digital newspaper would be made out of flexible plastic to appear like a normal newspaper. I guess the feeling would never be the same, but I think the pros are greater than it's cons. |

I think if you're concerned about the environment, you would want to use plastic as little as possible. |

But here's the question: do they waste trees? Or simply use them productively? It seems to me that trees are more renewable than the oil from which plastic is made. |

Yes, very good point, I do think digital newspapers would be good as the could hold a lot of info. Yet paper ones decompose quickly, and are generaly better to the enviroment. |

From a christian perspective, God made trees for us to use, as He made us the stewards of Creation. We might tend to misuse these responsibilities, but there's no point in totally quitting use of the resource that's renewable. |

I think of a bit further than the trees. Think of the poor newsboys No more jobs for them.Back to the point. Trees were made for us to use, plus most newspapers are used from recycled cardboard, which is why they aren't white. |

You do have a point. But really the issue is overuse. We print flyers, posters, and a whole lot of stuff which we don't acutally need. Including newspapers. I don't think the paperboys will mind anyway not ones who have quitted. *Nudge* I rest my case. |

Yes, I suppose so, but you said, "We print flyers, posters, and a whole lot of stuff which we don't acutally need. Including newspapers." But when you think about it, we do need newspapers. And maybe we don't need flyers and posters, but often the company using the posters and flyers need them for business. Example: A company really wants their icecream shop to become a little bit more famous in the area. They send out flyers, with coupons/vouchers on them. Then people can use them to their benefit. Also, some trees might be grown so that they can become into newspapers. And with todays 'Climate Change' and pollution society, we can be assured that newspapers are recycled, thus not using the tree at all. And trees are not just being cut down for newspapers. All the paper young children use for drawing squiggles and lines come from trees. All our furniture comes from trees. The bottom line is newspapers are here to give news to society. |

Yes, but we are taking trees for granted. Cutting them down without replanting,is NOT good.

But who knows that they aren't replanted. And, trees don't just give good benfits to the enviroment. They also give bad ones. I read an article and trees also give a bad gas to the air. |
