You know how people are always telling you to live in the moment, because sooner or later, what you believe is going to last forever, is taken away in the blink of an eye? Yeah, well, none of us ever believe those people, and it's always true. Our planet of Xilv was a once beautiful world, thriving and colorful. The economy of the planet was booming and the humans on this planet all seemed to get along. Centuries of peace made many believe nothing wrong could ever happen and thats when it came. Our once beautiful world filled with peace, intelligence and prosperity was soon turned to war when many different people decided they wanted to rule the world. Marcus Gearzl the leader of the head government was overthrown and assassinated by his second in command, Coleman Baird. He took control of the army of the world and sought to destroy all of mankinds prosperity, through fear he would rule, through poverty, he would rule. Just days after he had taken over, he'd announced his plan to destroy what the people believed the world should be. During Gearzl's rule, Baird had sent up a dozen satellites into Xilv's orbit. He spoke of it making things such as cellular devices and internet connections stronger than you could ever imagine, and it did, but that was only one of it's uses. This sattelite, known as the PE-1 or "Persons Eradicater" was a secret weapon of mass destruction and a frightening. They had floated around the world until the time was right, and when Baird pressed the button, they all shot their beams of destruction onto the cities, the oceans, the jungles, everything. It wiped out nearly half of the planets population, animals and humans alike. It seperated children from mothers, husbands from wives and sisters from brothers. Any technologies not destroyed in the blasts were confiscated and destroyed, only simple things such as radios, televion, indoor plumbing and electricity were left. Phones were gone, guns were taken away and the internet was a thing of the past. The world was slowly turning into one ruled by a dictator and many people disliked it, but there was nothing to do about it. Twenty years have gone by since that day, and Baird's been laid to rest but in his place rests his son who is crazier than himself. While his father at least left people to their simplest of things, Baird's son Dominic had taken all of that away too, excluding indoor plumbing that is. He had removed all luxuries the people would have, and thats where the revolts began to come about. According to the law where nobody, not even the military was allowed to use firearms, people resorted to blunt objects and weaponry of a more simplistic era. They used swords, spears and other more violent and old weapons that one wouldn't have seen in a millenia or two. They were forced back though, every single time. But finally, a band of rebels with extraordinary physical ability seemed to rise, a bunch of teenagers who were mutated by shion, an orange, liquid-like substance that came from the ground the day the sattelites beams came and penetraded the skin of Xilv. There weren't many, but their abilities sure made up for it. They pushed Dominic's forces back far enough they were able to take a small city of their own. Owning the town of Tersl, the small band of super humans roamed the town searching for more like them and found a small amount, and whoever didn't have their power, but could hold their own as soldiers, were taken into this small army now know as the Gear's in honor of the old and kind leader. In this group, there was no real leader, they were all respected amongst eachother, some a bit more and some a bit less than the others, but they all got along or at least tolerated them. They continued taking control of city after city, dominating the armies they had come up against, their casualties were minimal or none in many of the battles. Nevertheless, this would all change. Dominic knew of these people, knew what they were about and feared them greatly. So much so, that he had his personal scientists abduct hundreds of people from the surrounding city and infuse them with the shion just like the rebels, he made the surviving ones with promise generals in the army and sent them off the fight the rebels and their army of hopeless men, women and children. The battle of Gersch was a violent one, the last one I can write of, for that is where we remain right now. Many of our people died, it was the first time we truly fought against others with our super human abilities. We lost many soldiers, so many friends, but our numbers remained in the thousands as it was done. The stained grounds of Gersch is where we reside now. We won this battle, but I don't think we can win the next, and if we do, how could we possibly survive a third? Oh, Xilv save us. All I can do is pray. I have documented all that must be documented right now, the sounds of war have started up again, and it's time the Gears rise to the occasion once more. |
