Can someone please explain to me the reason why using the paths tool is better than using the free select? What is the advantage there. I don't get it.

becasue you can curve the line by clicking, holding, and moving the cursor. makes a way better selection

plus teh paths tool is way better for custom shapes, vectoring, web design, etc. Mainly because you can curve the lines

the paths tool can also undo your last click (or however many you want), free selection cannot

This seems very intimidating ('specially to a novice) but I guess the only way to get over that is to do it. Thank you for these links. ^_^
