Welcome to the Geo Political Roleplay (GPRP), a game in which you must control every aspect of a real world nation; it's government, military and people. This game takes into account real world statistics, relationships and alliances. Everything that happens in this game must make some sort of sense, and be realistic in a way that it would be possible to happen in the real world. This tutorial is largely based of a former player (France/Lebanon) of the Alternate History RP, which this site has descended from.

  1. When you first register an account with GPRP, register as the name of a country that exists in the world today (ie: Portugal, Chile, Namibia etc.). A list of available nation names scrolls by above. If you have already registered a name like “Joe495”, then you obviously made a mistake. You can either create a new account, or ask for that account to have it's name changed to the nation you want.

  2. Introduce yourself in the map thread so that an admin knows you need a state section. In the States section of the forum, you will find important military information about your nation. The detail of what is listed there is left up to you. Take a look at United Kingdom for an example of what you can create in this section.

  3. Read as much about the nation you intend to play so you have an understanding of their political situation at home and their position in world affairs. It is strongly advised that you pick a nation with similar views to your own, as attempting to change you nations views to match yours is not advised.

  4. Create a Government page in the 'States' section so that there is a record of who is in your nation’s leadership. You can develop this any way you see fit. Look at other nation’s States section for guidance.

  5. Set your avatar to a wavy flag, found in the link near the top of the page. They have great flags, and we thank the creator of that website for a brilliant job. Credit goes to the United Kingdom for finding that site.

  6. DO NOT go to war at the first opportunity. We implemented a rule that new nations can not go to war within the first two weeks of playing GPRP. This game is not just about war. It is more about politics. Remember do not attack a nation without a reason otherwise the world will not be happy. If you read some of our recent history, you will notice that a few nations chose to go to war too quickly and have been destroyed by the world’s armies.

  7. Do not make any radical changes too soon after you have joined. If you decide to leave the game, for example, by staging a military coup, it can really mess the game up for others. This will have recurring problems for a new player who may choose to play as your former nation. If anything like this happens, and you leave straight after, it will risk being ret-conned from the game.

Observe the game for a while, and see if you are still interested, before committing to anything to big. It is acceptable to send Private messages to other players asking questions or for gaining advice on how to start. Most players will help you, but don't be annoyed if they don't. Everyone is helpful because they enjoy the participation and are interested in your input.

The current date is posted in the date thread here. It progresses at a different rate than real time. When we are in Peace Time, one real day equals 14 days in game. When one to four nations are involved in a war; what we call “War Time”, one real day equals three days in game. When five or more nations are involved in a war; “Large War Time” then one real day equals one day in game. You can see which mode we are in at this thread here.

Relax and enjoy!

Many thanks to former France/Lebanon.
