2015 Parliamentary Election:

After the corruption scandals that have plagued the Republican Party during its hold on power, Armenian voters overwhelmingly switched their support to the pro-Western Heritage Party, whose leader Raffi Hovannisian won the 2013 Presidential election with 56.8% of the vote. This mandate was extended in the recent parliamentary elections:

Parties which won seats (government in green, conservative opposition coalition yellow, socialist opposition coalition red)

Heritage Party: 34.8%
Republican Party: 26.1%
Prosperous Armenia: 15.7%
Armenian Revolutionary Federation: 15.4%
United Labour Party: 11.2%

Rule of Law: 10.8%
National Unity: 9.6%

The new government has pledged to protect Armenia's sovereignty while increasing her diplomatic integration with both Europe and Eurasia, and as such announces its intention to join the European Union before 2025. It wishes to reach a rapproachment with Turkey, if at all possible, and to increase foreign investment to grow Armenia's economy.
