Foreward: this is a tentative history of the GSA, constructed from a combination of what little archived websites and documents remained and the fragile, fallible thing called the human memory. Enjoy.

Fall 2003:

Dragon_Bard began playing RuneScape under the username Treck39 in late 2002. After enjoying RuneScape Classic alone for roughly a year, he persuaded a close friend to join him on the game and gave him the Treck40 account. New to the game, Treck40 was interested when Bard mentioned the concept of a clan—an organization of allied players. Resolving to create such an organization, they looked to one of their then-favorite television shows, Mutant X, for inspiration; deciding to create a RuneScape clan based off of Mutant X's Genetic Security Agency, the Trecks established the RuneScape Security Agency and began recruiting straight out of Lumbridge.

Late fall - Winter 2003:

Joined by two other real life friends, Chickstroyer and Horatio_Caine, the RSA began to swell to a dozen members or so before Treck39 suggested that the name be changed out of fear that the name could be construed as an impersonation of Jagex officials. The RSA's nucleus agreed to call it the Covenant and the clan was based in Varrock, world 19; the group grew dissatisfied with the name and changed it, once more, to a more original one, Genexcore, in January 2004. During this time, Horatio_Caine's ambition prompted him to betray the Genexcore and attempted to orchestrate a mutiny that would see him placed in charge of the clan; the attempt failed, and Treck40 replaced Horatio with Chickstroyer—a move that would inspire a deep-seated rivalry between the two. For his part, Horatio's in-game conduct resulted in his account being temporarily banned.

January 2004:

Genexcore styled itself a den of spies, mercenaries, and bounty hunters; spending a remarkable time in the wilderness, conducting raids and assaults on other clans. Recruitment continued to swell, with dozens of members pouring in as the clan's sense of community and group loyalty became well known in the clan world at the time. Treck39, having the most in-game experience, oversaw Genexcore's growth; Treck40 largely saw to matters related to security and spent much of his time amongst the clan rank-and-file, earning their respect and loyalty; Chickstroyer assumed the role of intelligence minister and kept an eye out for enemy clans. The arrival of a fourth friend, Mystic_Manor, saw Chickstroyer assume an advisory capacity as Manor assumed many of the intelligence responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the owner of the Horatio_Caine doubled his efforts to bring down Genexcore. He created a small clan known as the Azure Knights (and then almost immediately changed it to the Emerald Knights) and targeted his former colleagues, specifically Chickstroyer, in a series of unsuccessful attempts.

January - April 2004:

Genexcore continued to swell, despite the lack of private forums or private website. Activity in-game was remarkably high and PK raids were commonplace. During this time, recruitment saw the arrival of two of Genexcore's top field agents: Stuart141 and Jenova1616. Shortly afterwards, RuneScape 2 was launched, and Genexcore made the transition from the Classic game to the new edition.

April 20th, 2004:

Genexcore made an alliance with Gravedragon's smaller guild of PK'ers. His in-game girlfriend, Sho Girl, wanted to have a "marriage ceremony" in the Wilderness and requested that Genexcore helped facilitate it. Treck40 tasked Genexcore's military arm, the Genexcore Security Agency, with ensuring that this took place. Selecting the Chaos Shrine in Level 12 Wilderness, approximately two dozen GSAgents surrounded the area for approximately forty five minutes, fending off the occasional attack in a demonstration of calm strategy and organized force.

April 20th - April 25th, 2004:

Another real life friend, Booworship, joined Genexcore leadership to assist in the Intelligence department.

April 25th - May 24th, 2004:

Horatio Caine's clan, the Emerald Knights, made its first strike against Genexcore by putting a bounty out on him; deciding to use this as a test of the GSA's capabilities, Treck40 used Chickstroyer as bait and fended off two attempts.

May 24th - June 9th, 2004:

Treck39 resigned from his role as the Genexcore leader and assumed an advisory role; Treck40 replaced him as the clan leader, which saw the absolute integration of Genexcore with the GSA; the two names were henceforth synonymous. Though he attempted to use this change of power to his own ends, Horatio's account was permanently banned by Jagex authorities due to in-game conduct.

June 9th - August 2004:

Gandalf Wana and Degedege joined the GSA as spies; Crazyivan7 and Forest Egg joined as field agents; and Stuart141 recruited Lady A_N_N_E. A_N_N_E, a headstrong and ambitious agent, eventually had a falling out with Treck40. The result was a civil war that nearly divided the clan in half. Stuart and A_N_N_E leave the clan and take several high ranking members with them; Through negotiations and Stuart's change of heart, however, the agents returned to their old posts a short time latter, with the exception of A_N_N_E. The GSA's triumph in this dark time saw activity hit its peak, with roughly 75 active members; recruitment ceased and the GSA focused on building its community.

August - September 2004:

Ambition would strike a third time in the GSA, as Gandalf Wana attempted to stage a coup, with the assistance of Degedege, Crazyivan7, and Forest Egg in a loose confederation of saboteurs, accusing Treck40 of ruthlessness and harsh leadership as the primary reasons. The GSA was again divided, though not as prominently as with Stuart and A_N_N_E. Unable to gather enough support, the coup failed, though Wana's crew departed with him. Disheartened with the betrayals, Chickstroyer and Treck39 bowed out, leaving Treck40 to create the Death Dealers; the GSA was no more.
