The Code of Conduct Though it is community based, the GSA, like most other clans and all successful ones, has a certain set of rules and regulations on conduct that must be obeyed at all times: • The first principle essential to the GSA is activity; we require that all members remain active and involved in clan dealings, pursuant to the GSA event activity policy. That means that each member should be sure to satisfy the number of weekly events that are required. If a member displays strong disregard for the event system, he or she CAN be removed from the clan; there are NO EXCEPTIONS. • Common respect is the second primary principle espoused by GSA leadership; we require that its members, staff, and leadership demonstrate respect and simple decency towards one another—there are NO EXCEPTIONS. • Authority respect is another virtue rooted in the GSA system; similar to common respect, we require that all members—particularly during GSA events—show deference to their leaders. Members are not asked to become slaves or submit any sort of freedom to their leaders, but during events (including wars and meetings) and for the sake of efficiency, leaders need to be able to communicate requests, orders, or instructions to the rest of the membership without interruption or defiance. Again, there are NO EXCEPTIONS. • Questions, disagreements, etc. Despite the emphasis on respect and the fact that there are times in which leaders and staff members require full and quick cooperation, the GSA is not a totalitarian clan; we strive to be receptive and sensitive to the comments, criticisms, and feedback of our members. There is a time and a place for all opinions and feel free to bring any of them to the attention of GSA leaders and staff members; all that is required is that you avoid hostilities. • We require the use of private forums. The forums will function as our offsite headquarters and enable members and leaders to develop a tight-knit community. All members must sign up and make use of these forums and there are NO EXCEPTIONS. • A sense of humor. It is true that the GSA emphasizes qualities in some ways that are not unlike the ones that most people want in a boyfriend or a girlfriend; a sense of humor is among these. A healthy sense of humor, knack for jokes, comedic timing, and sharp wit are all assets in the GSA—feel free to crack a joke even at the GSA leaders, because it’s almost guaranteed that they’ll throw one in your direction. Understand, though, that this rule is in accordance with the community theme of respect—and there is a difference between humor and harassment; one is tolerated and the other is not. • Loyalty & patriotism are two qualities that are as important as respect in the GSA; we want our members to be both loyal and proud of the rest of the clan. In terms of loyalty, we require that GSA members do NOT multi-clan—a member cannot be part of more than one clan—there are (can you guess?) NO EXCEPTIONS. Patriotism, on the other hand, isn’t so much a requirement as it is a suggestion; we can only hope that a person will become fully integrated with the GSA clan community and develop friendships with their fellow members—feel free to be proud of your clan. • Have fun and don’t forget your non-RuneScape commitments. The GSA is meant to enhance the quality of your RuneScape experience and become a major facet of it. That said, it is not intentionally designed to encompass your entire life. Most, if not all of the current GSA leadership and staff are full-time college students with both academic and social demands; these demands are more important than any game—there are NO EXCEPTIONS.
