Hystie, are you the one doing the graphics? I've noticed the new banner, as well as your new sig in the CC forums. They are very good. Since I diddle in graphics, I'm always curious to know who's behind the quality artwork I see. |

Yeah. That's my work. Thanks! :) I did my sig on the main forum and Ray's new sig. I've been wondering, is your avatar Aslan? |

Yes, of course. I first decided to use this avatar with the express purpose of belonging to Gebler...a very long time ago. It seemed fitting for what this alliance's goals and purpose was. We were meant to be a higher power...one of peace, but ready for war...spreading wisdom and following the path of the noble. Aslan seemed perfect for my avatar. |

I use Paintshop Pro XI. I wish I had Photoshop but can't afford it. I've been using Paintshop Pro for 6 years now. :) |

Hey Octavion, I've been given info in the past on how to use torrent files to download PS for free...but I never could figure out how to put it all together to make it work. Regardless, I downloaded a free trial once and I was clueless on how to do even the simplest tasks. :( Paintshop Pro XI sounds interesting, and I'm assuming it's probably easier to use...PS is the most sophisticated (and complex) software on the market for graphics. But, it still cost$ and GIMP is free. I've gotten pretty decent with graphics, but I see elements in your creations that I have no idea how to do and I'm jealous! |

Yeah, I don't know much about torrents. I get the exe file and a keygen from my bro, since he's more familiar with that kind of stuff. I also like to stick to either CS2 or CS3 Extended. I find they're the most user friendly, while not trading off too much of the functionality of the newer versions |

Paintshop Pro cost me about $70 when I bought it. My copy came out in probably 2004. It was worth the money though. I've never used gimp unfortunately so I'd be unable to tell you how to do some things on there that I do on mine. Is there anything in particular that is standing out? |

Oh yes. Some of the effects, like the fade you have at the bottom of your sig here, the way the border is done in Octavion's sig, the dual border lines in your CC forum sig, along with the style of text your name is done in on that sig. It's all really good. I looked up the current version of Paintshop Pro and it looks like it'll run around $100. Not sure what the learning curve would be on it, though. |

I taught myself the basics on how to use it in less than a weekend. I'm still learning some things....because I'm too lazy to do tutorials and like to learn by "discovery"....but it is fairly user friendly. For the fade, I used erase but minimized the opacity of it. For Octavion's, it was a combination of a "picture frame" (one of the ones that comes with Paintshop Pro) and a "Border" (you choose the size and color of the border in Paintshop Pro). For the double borders, I used actually 4 or 5 borders. Again, in Paintshop you can choose the size and color. But in addition to that, you can choose which sides you want the border on. Sometimes I'll do all sides one color, two sides a different color, then all sides that one color again. Repeat as much as you want. |

Interesting. See, GIMP doesn't really have many templates. It's mostly all from scratch. Not saying it's hard to learn or pick up....Photoshop makes it look GIMP look simple, but you know what I'm saying. |

edit..nm...really need to set restrictions on images so it'll reduce them if they're oversized. :( Edited by Reagan, 10 Oct 2011, 22:11.
