Since it has been ages since I have played one. Probably three or four years. Out of all the years I played Poke'mon, I played the following versions: yellow, red, blue, pinball, silver, gold, crystal, ruby, emerald, fire red, and leaf green. Out of all of those, I think yellow or crystal was the best one because of the game play aspect and the new varieties of poke'mon you had to choose from. |

Training as Mario

I'm saying Ruby. For some strange reason, that's my favorite version. I guess it was the addition of natures and the newer pokémon. I haven't played D/P because I don't have a DS so I can't really say anything about them yet. |

I wasn't too crazy about Ruby or Saphire; although I did play Saphire all the way through. Didn't go through many of the extra parts with it. It's currently the only Pokemon game that I own that I didn't bother catching all the rare Pokemon. Firered was my favorite because it brought back many memories of the original red & blue games, and still had the extra additions. I'd have to say that Diamond & Pearl are my favorites though, simply because they were amazing to play. Also the wireless capabilities were a great addition to this game. |

I've played at least one version of all the Pokemon gens, including FR/LG. I have to say: 2nd Gen > 1st Gen > 3rd Gen > FR/LG > 4th Gen I liked Diamond, it just seemed too different for me to get into it. It really messed me up. |

Ah, I forgot about Gold & Silver. I have both but all my good stuff is in Gold. I liked fighting Ash with his high level Pokemon at the end. |

Well, I'm called a pokenerd by a lot of people cause I actually study pokemon (and kick people's asses in it too). I've played Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, Stadium 1, Stadium 2, Colosium, XD: Gale of Darkness, Pinball, Pinball Advance, Snap, Mystery Dungeon (red), Ranger, Hey You Pikachu, Puzzle League, and probaly some others I don't remember off the top of my head. Here were my thoughts on them, which ones I thought were the best out of each series, and my favorite overall. Red: Not bad for a basic startoff. 151 to collect. Red tint to everything if played on the GBC. I used this one as my playthrough game, so i t was reset a lot. Blue: Almost same as Red. Slightly different set of pokemon to collect (12 different than Red, I think). For some reason I used this one as my master file. Got all 151 pokemon to level 100 and gave them good movesets (obviously needed to play through red several times to get multiple TMs). Yellow: Awesome game. Best out of this set of 3. HAd a different tint for each town and one tint for routes if played on a GBC. Pikachu followed you around. Access to all 3 starters. Advanced rival setting where u can pick what his Eevee evolved into. Pretty much orgasmic for the 1st gen games. Walking was slow though, and only 16 bit graphics, I believe. I transferred everything to this one after it came out and made it my master file. Gold: Offered another 100 pokemon to collect. Exploring both Jhoto and Kanto regions. Was actually placed in a timeline with RBY (3 yrs in the future). Chance to fight Ash (they called him Red, but we know who he really is). Fought Gary too (called him Blue). This was my playthrough version. Silver: Slightly different pokemon lineup. Was my master file (had Lugia on the front, and Lugia was kick ass. You don't really see a movie centered around Ho-oh, do you?). Prolly my favorite of the 3. Kept all 251 on here. Level 100. Tricked out movesets. Crystal: GBC exclusive (though all 3 were in "full" color if played on a GBC). This one didn't make my favorite prolly because of the lack of a Mareep. That little sheep was cool, and they removed him from the version. So sad... Suicune stayed still for u though. Though why Suicune? Raikou was so much cooler. I still remmeber as a kid when G/S were still being made the rumor that Raikou was an evolved Raichu. Guess again kiddys. Ruby: More pokemon galore! 386 total. I was so happy to see that many more. It rocked. New Hoenn region (though that was the only region. Which sucked, cause there was so much unused space on the cartridge I think they should have given us another region). Though at this point in the series you were confined to the Hoenn Dex unless you used a GS or an AR, since the 3rd gen was not compatable with the 1st or 2nd one. Sapphire: Always the slight difference in catchables. I used this one more, and I am not sure why. Remenants of Red vs. Blue versions maybe? I don't know. It had my 200 pokemon for a long time until... Firered: Yes, I am including FR and LG in the RSE set as it wasn't a new gen, just a way to get more of the pokemon you missed due to incompatability between generations. Had a battle tower (standard addition after crystal first introduced it). 7 islands not in RBY, but otherwise a remake, abet a nice one. Made it my master file. Featured an 8th and 9th Island fr the lucky ticket holders from the Pokemon Events for you to catch Ho-oh, Lugia, and Deoxys. This version also had the Attack Deoxys, which was a plus. Leafgreen Same as firered, just with the standard difference in catchables. Had to play through a few times to get all 3 dogs. Emerald: Nearly wet my pants at this one. New champion of the E4. Made it my master file of the 5 immedately. This version finished off the roster of 386, allowing for a full GBA gen pokedex. It added Faraway Island, where my favorite pokemon (Mew, who has been my favorite since Blue) dwelled. I nearly cried at the chance to get him. I love my mew. I even got a Blue one when I went there. It is my pride and joy. I don't even use it. It is not even out of its package. It sits in its own PC box, maybe let a few friends join it for a bit. Sometimes I carry it with me just to have it with me. Anyway, Emerald also went a step beyond the Battle Tower, and made the Battle Frontier. Excellent place to spend time. SOmething I was sad to see was not repeated or improved int he next gen. Easily the best game for awhile. Diamond: Raised the pokemon count to 493, a godly number (with a "god" [creation, w/e, it made still from nothing] pokemon included). New region. New towns, so much new fun.It was all I did when I got it. Beat it in a few days. Then I began the arduous task of transferring pokemon to get my pokedex up to 493 (where it proudly has sat for awhile). This was my master version, and for once, I used the grass starter. Torterra owned and was like a tank on my team. There was so much extra stuff I cannot name it all on here. New battle system too. It was like christmas came 9 months early! Pearl: slightly different pokemon to catch, but mostly the same. This is my playthrough version. Pinball: A fun twist. Took forever to get the pokedex to 151, and it took awhile mostly cause you need mad pinball skills, not mad catching skills. Pinball Advanced: If you thought 151 was hard, try this one. Though my skills improved immensely, as my high score is well over 10 billion points (not million, but billion. and I say well over cause I have like 7 balls left. I keep getting more, and like 3 billion points per ball, so it is an endless High Score as far as I am concerned). Stadium: My precious creatures could duke it out in 3D? I was so there. And what fun it was. And after you did everything, you got to do it again, only harder! And prizes of rare(ish) pokemon. Battle your friends? Sweet. Stadium 2: Just made things even better with more pokemon and moves. Slightly cleaner 64 bit graphics. Coloseum: Starting with Espeon, one of the best psychics? sweet (though alakazam is sweeter)! Small catch capacity, but could essentially be used to battle friends, plus had a 3D storyline. Introduced shadow pokemon. You got to steal those. Purify them, make them stronger to save more of them. XD Gale of Darkness: Introduced more shadow moves. Had a friggin Shadow Lugia, which looked so choice. You got to pick what your eevee became. Snap: Yay, taking pictures of pokemon. Was fun to try to keep beating your high score on each pokemon picture. And eventually taking a picture of Mew (my beloved)! Mystery Dungeon Red: Wasn't too impressed with this game. You get to be a pokemon, and recuit a few others to help you, but it lacked in many areas. Ranger: Bleh. All I have to say is Bleh. Beating it nets you a Manaphy in DP though. Puzzle League: I got fairly far, but the stages like, never ended, so I just quit playing it. It is essentially tetris, only the screen starts full and you need to get it down before it stacks to above a certain point. you could move blocks around horizontally. The 3D puzzles (cylinders) were really fun. Hey You Pikachu: You get to talk to pikachu. I don't think there really is an end to it. Just get to play with and talk to pikachu everyday. And some of his friends. O Joy. That is all for now, mates. |

2nd Gen > 1st Gen > FR/LG > 3rd Gen > 4th Gen That's just my opinion. I miss 2nd Gen so much I had to get it again. |

You sound like my friend, who says for him pokemon stopped at the 2nd gen cause he hates natures. Get with the times people. |
