This series follows Public Peace Section 9, a government organization that plays behind the scenes to stop the worst of these criminals. Join Major Motoko Kusanagi and her team as they take you through an incredibly vivid world filled with plots of such depth and intrigue as is seldom seen. That's the synopsis for the first season. There is to 2 series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Second Gig It's an action-packed, series set in the future. The plot is top notch along with the animation and sound. While the first season is much looser having maybe 6 - 8 episodes that hit on the main plot while the rest more or less just break you into the universe. I like the second season much better, as the plot was noticeably deeper and goes from begging until the end. Overall it's nothing short of a masterpiece. Here's a trailer to the movie, which takes place after the 2nd season but you don't really need to watch the show to watch the movie. This will just give you an idea what the series is like. Sorry there's no subtitles as the trailers in Japanese. It is not quite as straight-forward entertainment as a lot of other anime. It's one of those shows that is not good to just veg out in front of, because then things won't make sense =P. This definitely happened to me a few times. However, がんばれ (ganbare - go for it)

It's also interesting as people are somewhat more realistic and base their actions of ideals and personal history, ect... instead of just like: Me no like U.S. must destroy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
