RP Guidelines: Reformed; A New Guideline for RP

Over the course of my time as RPM, I have taught multiple classes and come to the realization that not everyone even knows what RPing IS before they play the game. Below I have compiled a list of guidelines that I teach in each class, hoping that newcomers (and even more experience players) can read this post and take something away from it to use in-game (not to mention reduce the amount of classes I'll end up teaching ;) ). Sync, the owner, has previously posted his own set of guidelines, and I encourage anyone reading this to read his post if you haven't looked it over already. This list is simply a reformation of his guidelines, including recent changes and expectations.

- If you want to kill another player, you must have a valid reason to do so.

- Your character will not automatically know other people's names. You must be told first.

- Whenever you are emoting, please do so to your full capability. Imagine RPing as a book, the more detailed everything is, the more interesting and fun it will be for everyone.
Make sure that your spelling, punctuation, and grammar are as correct as possible so that everyone can understand what you are trying to do.

- We realize that sometimes the actions you are emoting aren't very complicated and can't possibly be drawn out to fit three lines. If this is the case, try to include multiple actions in one emote other than doing this: *[Person] walks across the room* *[Person] sits down*

- If you wish to attack someone while RPing, use an emote to do so. When attacking, you are expected to be as clear and precise as possible. It is best for your attack emotes to be at least three lines and as detailed as possible. Be sure to include the name of the person you are attacking, whether or not your character knows the person's name. If you are emoting, that doesn't matter. Just make sure we know who/what you are targeting.

- If you are attacking someone, you must give them 15 seconds of reaction time before actually using your attack.

- If someone attacks you in RP, you are given enough time to try to dodge the attack. We prefer that you fit as much detail into your defensive emotes as well, but we understand that you are being times, so a one-lined evasion works just fine.

- If you are killed unfairly, or believe that someone is breaking any of the RP rules, tell one of the RPMs in-game (You can see which RPMs are online by clicking on the "View Staff List" option in your Commands tab). Provide copied/pasted proof from your chat log (make sure it isn't very long or that's spam) in OOC and whichever of the RPMs that isn't busy will see what he/she can do to help you and punish whoever is breaking the rules.

- If you want to RP, don't ask repeatedly on OOC for someone to RP with you or you risk being muted.

- If you want people to keep RPing with you, don't act rudely while RPing.

- If you aren't obeying the written list of RP rules you can expect to be "jailed". If you are jailed, an RPM sends you to a cell in the in-game jail. You can not use magic while in the cells, so you cannot teleport out. If you are placed in jail, don't ask when you will be let out. When your time is up, someone will release you. If you bug the RPMs, we will only leave you in there longer.

Follow this set of guidelines and you are sure to have more fun RPing with others in-game. If you RP well, and complete your character's profile, you are much more likely to obtain a rank than someone who isn't RPing well. Take all of this into consideration before you jump into RPing next time, and you'll enjoy yourself much more.
Also, be sure to read Sync's Post of RP Guidelines, FAQ's,Guide: Profiles, and Guide: RP Status if you are new to the game. Reading these forum posts will prevent you from having to question the staff about everything. However, if you still have questions after reading these, be sure to ask. A question asked is a problem prevented.
Enjoy gaming, everyone.

Seeing the colors now I really don't like them. o.o Looks too Christmas-y ^o) Nto how I visualized it. I tried to edit it, but I don't have admin powers, so yeah. Sync, Sesh, if one of you could make it less of an eyesore that would be greatly appreciated on my part, and probably everyone who reads it. ^_^ Also didn't help that I failed to find the Preview button. Silly me
