BYOND is made so that to play without parental permision you need to be 13 or older... Charmed is rated TV-MA.... Which is also because they happen to use "Cuss words" in the show. We are all mature here. Noone on the game doesnt know what F uck means... Nor do they not know what the other cuss words mean either. I have SEEN the OWNER of the game cussing AT PLAYERS before. hard core "F-Bomb" and all... The fact that i get muted because i said "f uck" in refference to a song that was being talked about in OOC... And the song actually has that word in it... I got muted... This again is bull shit. If we are allowed to cuss in IC, there is no reason why we should nto be able to use cuss worlds in OOC AS LONG as it is not directed at someone in the form of insults... Which seemingly... People on the staff have a probably following, as well as the owner. This is a easy compromise for players and staff alike since there are some topics that should be allowed to be had, and some that shouldnt. Unless it reaches into some horrible area that is either extremely offensive, or extremely graphic, or insulting (And really... Use common sense for this. Saying that you were offended because someone said David Spade is an ass... Is not a mute worth reason... GTFO with that...) If players are mature enough to use cuss words in there Role Playing, there is NO REASON why we shouldnt be mature enough to use it in everyday OOC chatting, again, as long as it doesnt hurt anyone, or offend anyone, or reach into some area of topic that shouldnt be mentioned like pornographical content.(And again use commone sense... If someone says something like "Did you F uck a Mermaid" Like i said... Thats niether offensive, insulting, or pornographic... The person i was talking to knew that it was part of the song. And i even explained it on OOC so everyone else knew... That is NOT horrible... And hardly mure worthy.) If you are going to trust players with using it in RP then they surely should be able touse it in OOC. For that matter... If the OWNER can do it, and not in the approprate way that i mentioned here, or if he can allow it to happen on the game, i dont see the difference... Only my suggestion seems to be something that is easier to live with, and less hurtfull to players and offensive to those watching... Again. The game is PG-13. We all know what the word is... Alittle maturaty should be used now adays. We arent children and we arent pre-teens. We have all seen worse on movies and TV.... Get over yourselves... Its not the worse thing that can happen in a game.... Edited by Moussiffer, May 13 2009, 11:15 PM.

The reason it isn't allowed is because it is inappropriate language, from all the games i've played, wether it be on byond or not, they all have a rule against it. some even more extreme then others. You should not go around running using those words, some people use them in their daily lives, which in my opinion is bad enough. The rule will not change, but i will admit that i have given bad examples in the past myself. In general i keep it to the staffs descretion but i will not disagree with them if they mute and you feel wronged. People don't always see that line of saying something when its not directed at someone, so to pull the line for them, nobody gets to say it. |

I understand what you are saying. But i feel that some things are just commone sense. I mean... Lets be honest. I dont go around in my everyday like cussing people out and such constantly. But... I also dont go around doing it in game. I felt wronged because the comment was in no way harmful to anyone... It didnt mention anyone, it wasnt directed towards anyone or anything thing. And it had nothing to do with any ingame arguement or fight. Common sense should be that if noone is offended by it... Then there is no reason to mute someone. I could understand if i was saying it to insult someone or if we were fighting in OOC or something. But we were making a joke about a song... And all i did was type out a part of the song I liked. People on the server "Lol." There was no problem. Then like 5 minutes later... AFTER this had all happened and was done and over with, i get muted. Without warning... Just an automute. There is something wrong with that. Personally i consider that abuse. Its like ripping a bandaid off of a cut thats started to heal. We were over it. Noone else was cussing in OOC we werent even talking about it. And randomly 5 minutes after its done I get muted... For something that didnt affect anyone negatively. Personally i have very laxed rules on my server about the language issue. And we dont seem to have a problem. Like is said, if it is used to insult others or affect the game/others in a negative way. Then it becomes a problem and then it is dealt with. Most of the time, with a simple "Hey, you dont need to insult me" which normally leads to a "Sorry but i was kind of pissed off about what happened... " etc. And then no more problem. I think that if we treat the players like they are mature enough to handle the game, they will act mature in turn. Its a compromise. Give and take. So i see what you are saying, and i understand where you are coming from, but i just think we need alittle more tit for tat here to get players to act there age and not there shoe size. It seems to be working on my server anyway. I dont know, maybe its just me. you should come on sometime just to observe the server and see how it is being run. |
