"Recently, Australian comedy team "The Chaser" was pulled off the air from two weeks due to a controversial sketch about terminally ill children and the Make-A-Wish foundation: Quote: ABC News article (video and link to full article below)]The Make-A-Wish Foundation says a skit on the ABC's The Chaser program might make families think twice about asking for help for their seriously ill children. Last night's 'Make a 'Realistic' Wish Foundation' skit purported to be from a foundation which "helps thousands of kids to lower their extravagance and selfishness." But putting it into a wider context ... Family Guy makes fun of domestic violence and paedophilia, South Park satires religion and world events, and plenty of stand-up comics say things that make you second guess if it's funny or tasteless. But do they get away with it because it's meant to be "funny"? An example: In an episode of Family Guy, Stewie finds a book titled: "Horton Hears Domestic Violence in the Next Apartment and Doesn't Call 911"; cutaway to an elephant hearing a man yelling and a woman screaming in terror. Personally, I would have liked to have seen that bit cut from the episode. The rest of it was pretty funny, but I did not like the domestic violence gag. However, a friend of mine doesn't see what the big deal is. I'm sure lots of you can think of a joke in a film, TV show, whatever, that make you squirm or disapprove of it's tastelessness. But they are still allowed to be broadcast. So ... can we censor "comedy" without looking oversensitive or too precious? Or does anything go in the name of humour?" So what is your opinion? I personally don't like Family Guy or south park, thus I think at times it should be censored.

I'm pretty sure it says All men are created equal, and probably something about sparing the eyes of little children. The first amendment only applies to things that are in agreement with the law.

I didn't think so technichally, no ammendments give any form of order. they jsut say things you always CAN do. making jokes is hardly persecution. persecution is where an action is taken against someone. saying something can be racist, hurtful, or offensive, but it is not an action. and to restrict someone's freedom of speech, you must first PROVE it is directly harmful or likely to cause another person harm. and making jokes about sex is.... pretty normal. it's an absolutely harmless way of relieving tension, sometimes. and who cares if some kid hears? reproduction is kind of needed for the continuation of the human speices. while i ALMOST considered agreeing on censoring overly offensive things i do not nor will i ever approve of censoring sex from comedy. i mean seriously? persecute minorities? dude, the funniest comics are all black and they are racist like crazy. Instead, have the bad stuff play after 9 when kids are sleeping or upstairs or not watching TV. Have the okay comedy stuff playing throughout the day.

And just a little pointer, you're looking at the plain part, when it's funny there's something else going on that makes it funny, it's not that you just randomly decide to think something's funny.
