How much are several and a few really? We all know that a couple is always 2 but what about a few a several? I personally think that a few is at the lowest 3 and at the highest 5 and then several is 6-8. It really bugs me when people think that several is 3 :annoyed:

My Take

couple = 2
few = 3 to 5 (depending on what item)
several = 6 to 10
a lot = + 10

Actual values may varies from person to person

Agreed with DT.

And a whole bunch would be six or so, because that's how many bananas are in the bunch of bananas on my counter.

This is how I always thought it was: (dealing with everyday objects)
couple: 2
few: 3-9
several: 10+

But really it depends on the object you're referring to and scarcity of that object. Like it you say "That forest has several trees in it," several would probably be 200+, but if you say "That forest has several types of trees in it," several would probably be 10+. It all depends on the context.
