Just thought i'd clear that up first. I was skimming through my old posts on YYG (as I so often do... Good memories, as far as my internet persona goes) an I found an interesting topic called 'Philosoraptor'... It was an intriguing topic, in which Philosoraptor pictures were posted, and I went around lending my opinions on them. Vlad joined me after a while. Good times... Anyway, the topic almost became solely about a single picture. It stated: "What if Pinnochio said, 'my nose will now grow'." It sparked an interesting debate, which I want to replicate here. Personally, I think his nose would grow. You see, when he said, with absolute certainty, that his nose would grow, he actually didn't know for sure what would happen. Therefore, he was lying, because he wasn't absolutely sure.

You can ask me one question but I always lie" if he always lies then he would be lying about always lying but then he wouldn't be lying but then he would be telling the truth witch means he would be lying... <repeats forever. There is no answer to this question.

Posts: 1,400 Group: Members Member #19 Joined: Apr 4, 2010	His nose would grow, it grows if he lies, but if he says "My nose will now grow", it would then be the truth, the truth being that it would grow. Its like what Martho said, except the fact that his nose grows isn't dependent on a lie, a lie is dependent on his nose growing... kinda like how a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle isn't a square... His lie makes his nose grow, but his nose growing isn't always a lie considering there is one exception.

By saying "my nose will now grow", he said it with an absolute, undeniable conviction. When it didn't grow right then, when he said it would, his nose then grew, because he lied about it growing in the first place. The fact that it did grow is, effectively, unrelated.

His nose didn't grow when he said it did, so therefore he was lying when he said, for a certain fact, that it would. It grew because he lied about it growing. I know what you're thinking... If his nose grew, then suddenly the statement is true. On the contrary; his nose growing, as I stated before, is unrelated to the statement. Think about it. Give it a good long think.
