I'm pretty sure I reviewed this game already but we played it again last week and it never disappoints. My son always wants to be the traitor but it's randomly determined by three triggering factors. So of course Elm betrays us yet again because the game knows she's evil. With 50 different haunts in the base game and random tile placement of the house, each game is very different.

This time the little girl my son found in the house was eaten by the monster in the underground lake down in the basement. With only my son in the basement (he fell) and the rest of us on the main the main floor, we wasted most of the time trying to find a way down. He almost rescued the girl but was killed..then we were too late.

Go get this game if you are still down with board game nights.

Even better, track down Betrayal at Baldur's Gate for the D&D skinned adventuring party version of this game. :)

So it plays the same way but fantasy instead of horror? That'd be great. We played the Haunting expansion (Attic) which adds more but I'd rather put money towards a different stylized version for the price.

We got the Baldurs Gate version and played it last weekend. I think I made an error in how to lay down building and street tiles but it still played well.

The issue that made the game not much fun was the scenario. It was Rain of Fire and it wasn't clear when to roll for the fires to begin. Well, we thought it was clear but the scenario killed every citizen we were to rescue before we even began. We adjusted it and then had too easy of a time. I think it would've been more of a challenge if we didn't trigger the haunt on the third omen. I think it was less than 10% chance and Andruls wife was dangerous all night with dice in her hand.

The biggest change is how the roll is made to trigger the haunt. The new way drops the percentage down so the map can build a little more. It would help if the directions said the haunt automatically triggers with the last omen. The original version cant not be triggered. Technically you could never trigger it in Baldurs Gate if the dice are lucky. Easy enough houserule.

It was fun. And speaking of my wife, we rode the Victory to Win Condition yesterday and picked up her first set of dice. It only took 33 years but I'm hopeful she may finally be falling to the Dork side.
