Jenn and I are playing this one a bunch. It's 2-5 players and it can be completed in about 30 minutes. It's a combination card/dice game. It's got a bit of a steep learning curve, so it's definitely easiest to pick up if someone shows you the ropes - it's not that the rules are overly difficult, but that the game strategy isn't super obvious. But in short: it's a dice game where you are trying to harvest planetary resources for victory. Each player takes a turn rolling dice, moving ships to collect resources and planets and spending these to advance their empire in pursuit of victory points. The interesting twist mechanic is that other players can jump in on your turn to 'follow' one of your actions themselves. The game is one part luck with dice rolls on your turn, and three parts strategy of spending your resources at the right time. It's also not super expensive, so it's in our category of quick games to bring places with Love Letter and Bohnanza. |

I just watched a how-to-play demonstration video and it does look great. It seems to pack a big game into a small box. Elmira was never big on space/future games so I'm not sure if I have an opponent in her. I'll check to see if my oldest is interested. We need more quick games in our house. If I can lure him to play, it'll sway Elmira to try join. |
