My wired 360 controller has died. Wondering if anyplace close can repair it and how much it would cost vs. a new one.

If its a 3rd party controller, junk it. If its from MS then your best bet is to search online for the problem and fix. There are YouTube video fixes. They involve torque wrench or exacto knives..

I went with Microsoft because all the 3rd party controllers had consistently poor reviews except for the obvious plants put there by the sellers. I do some searching. Basically, my pc now says there's a problem with the usb device and it can't identify it and when I plug it into the 360 the ring will light up for a second then nothing. If I hit the button to sync the controllers the box just sits there fruitlessly searching for it.

I've read some advice about others with that problem. Solutions seem to be using a screw driver and exacto knife to open it up, separating touching wires and soldering connections.

Thanks. I'll see about giving that a try this weekend. It was weird since I was using it and a couple of days later it wasn't working when I picked it up again.
