Age of Empires II got a make over and update and is being re-re-released on the Steam platform for $20. Four copies for $60. This will definitely solve the AoE II networking problems...

This is quite awesome. I'm going to have to look up some screenshots. $20 is a bit much but I only have the rerelease of Baldur's Gate to go on. Unless they did massive, extensive work on AoE2, BG was cheaper and delivered a huge amount. Still interested!

The biggest change I noticed in the trailer was the ability to zoom out much, much further (and multi-display support!). Plus all the multiplayer is handled through Steam, so no more matchmaking headaches.

I mean, there isn't any game play updates that needed doing. The game was fricking awesome.

I was hoping they might add a couple extra civilizations but it would risk having an imbalance. Zooming out much more is a great feature. I need to drool over some HD videos before I keep complaining about the price.

If the game is successful enough, who knows? With a distribution engine like steam and updated code, they might add more expansions. That would be very cool, although tricky when you're dealing with a game legacy like AoE. It'd be like revamping Star Craft 2 and adding a fourth race...
