Seriously, they're raising money to put up a statue.

Don't get me wrong, the guy had the imagination to create a game that previously did not exist. But donating money to raise a statue in his honor? I'll have to pass but thank you for asking.

Edit: I'd like to thank Firefox's spelling checker for pointing out multiple typing errors while posting this. It seems my fingers are currently more interested in shooting aliens right now than typing coherently.

I posted about Wizards reprinting the original 1e books with some proceeds going to a memorial. I didn't know it was going to be a statue. I think they already have a plaque in place. I think it's nice to have a little memorial but some people are going a bit overboard. The guy created a game.. it's a game. I'm going to see if Milton or Bradley have a statue. I suppose Gygax is our hobby's Steve Jobs. I just saw a thread on two big rpg forums where people started threads on the anniversary of his passing. If I had known all this, I would have been making awful Gygax death jokes like I did with Steve Jobs. Now I feel guilty.

I think we are on the fourth already.

Some guy collected a forum post on ENworld and some other places in which Gary answered hundreds of questions. He's putting it in book format soon. I went through a portion of the massive thread and there is some cool things about the first games and odd ways certain things got into D&D.
