We are having a scotch party at Nighthawk's Bar and Grill this Saturday. 6-12 people, $50 buy-in for liquor, and we'll sip a variety of scotches all night long.

We're picking up the Glenlivet 12yr as a frame of reference since, well, it's inexpensive and fairly ubiquitous in the world of scotch. And the other option is Glen Fiddich, which I won't drink. After that, we'll see. I've earmarked a few potentials. The more people that show up, the better quality the scotches.

And afterwards, we're giving out the leftovers as door prizes.

I'd be there, but I think the Mounties are still on alert for me after my last visit. Have fun!

So no kilts and bagpipes? Horribly misleading title so I'm not going even if it sounds awesome.

In Canada, men can marry other men that wear skirts and blow pipes. It's no big thing. We don't need a party (cue filter) for that.

In related news, I spent today diligently doing office work creating a list of all the available single malts at the BC liquor store we're going to, the place of origin, and notes on which ones won awards. I'm prepared to purchase our scotches.

The only wild card is the amount we'll be able to spend.

It probably just means he added an even worse filter out there somewhere, waiting to ambush the unwary.

But I'll kinda miss the party filter. That one had been around for a while.

Captain! The primary party in my pants filter is offline. Switching to manual party in my pants filtering.

The party filer worked almost too well. I thought I'd give it a break and maybe sneak it back when no one is looking. My general guideline is not to have it too disruptive. Party seemed to crop up so often sometimes. Otherwise I go for humor and social justice (ie. pop). I still take filter submissions. Auduma is responsible for at least one of them.

I took pains not to trigger the party filter for the longest time until I finally realized I was exempt. It's a little less fun when I couldn't get blindsided too.

That should change. I think the party filter was the one I'm responsible for, too :P

Make me proud... what was the liquor bill?

The bill wasn't important, because the party budget was pre-determined at $50 per person. We had 6 people, ergo $300. What was impressive was Lance bought 5 single malt scotches with it, one from all the major areas. And 6 of us proceeded to drink almost all 5 bottles in one night. The 'tasting' was a success. :)

The bill is important because it would tell me you bought either lots of liquor or a good amount of really good liquor. It looks like you did both. Congratulations on the fun :D

We'll definitely do this again. If we can get 8-10 people, we can buy the same number of bottles but get up into the $90-$100 bottle price range. And we stuck entirely with single malts. Next time, we'll venture into some of the blended scotches and perhaps other whiskeys.
