That is a far better idea for the US to get rid of the baby boomers. We can save Social Security, eliminate the budget issue and create millions of jobs. We just need some sort of... camp.. to ship them to... |

And we could use an algorithm to decide who gets camped using ethnic, religious, and relative wealth as parameters. There must have been such an algorithm used in the past that we could model ours on. |

No need to divide by wealth. We'll be redistributing it to the masses to secure their vote... and their control! |

No, no, no. You don't split up the wealth amongst the masses. You encamp the wealthy and appropriate their wealth for the personal gain of you and your good friends. |

It was bound to happen eventually. The 'peaceful' demonstrators are getting less civilized as the retarded event drags on. They still apparently have no clue about what they're actually demonstrating about. |

I agree with the anger just like I agreed with the Tea Party anger. It's legit. Beyond that, who cares. I just want everyone to get mad. Network (Howard Beale):
Awwww yeah. But seriously. We need to investigate. I'm calling in some support Posted Image |

I find it ridiculous that we have Occupy protests in Canada. 2/3 of the 'protestors' at Occupy Vancouver are transients. They get fed if they set up at tent city, so they do. They don't care about the economic tapestry. They've either chosen or been forced to live outside that model. That is a problem there that should be solved. The biggest problem facing North America right now is financial illiteracy. But that means owning up to the fact that two cars, a 5 bedroom house, the travel trailer, the boat, the travel trailer aren't god-given rights. And by god, the Occupy protestors are two frickin' years late. They should have been out there, outraged and angry when the government was bailing out these banks. THAT was bad economics. And it was precisely the bad economics that these protestors are calling for - an end to the capitalist model. Well, the capitalist model would have simply let the banks die, the investors eat goat, and move on. THAT is Capitalism, with a capital C. Good thing that November is financial literacy month. :D |

See? I call in Canadian support and it came! I will be voting for Lance next year. I'm sure we can waive that silly foreign born Constitution clause. For the last month, I've been reading over and over about executives complaining to reporters, the government and anyone else that will listen that they are having an extremely hard time filling job positions with qualified people. These jobs are high end, high paying ones. They require engineering and science majors. For the last 2 months I have been seeing people posting pictures on the internet showing they have huge student loan debt and cannot find any jobs... while also stating they have an Art History major or they haven't graduated yet while having five and six years of student loan debt. So yeah, I think I figured out the problem. They gambled on a risky educational path or didn't belong in a university in the first place (which is gambling on a bad 'horse' so to speak). The concept is quite similar to the banks and their horrible investments. The bail out made everyone mad. I did hear lots about these students wanting a bailout. At first it sounds reasonable.. until you realize almost all the banks have paid them all back with a bit of interest. Students got a much better student loan forgiveness recently and many aren't going to pay back before that was enacted anyhow. All their student loans are underwritten with a built in bailout. At first I was a bit worried about Wes since I don't think the climate will be tremendously greater when he graduates. Then thought about it: He's focused on engineering. Getting work in an engineer related office to get his foot in the door (internship later perhaps). I'm pretty sure he got mostly free monies and little loan debt. Never seen any unreal entitlement expectations from him. Nope, not worried now. Edited by lgm, Nov 18 2011, 04:22 PM.

Huh, what I've read about the inability to fill job positions is not that there is nobody qualified for them, but that the companies are insisting that the person they hire have the exact qualifications listed. As in, "You are proficient with Macrohard Sentence 10.5 but we need somebody who knows 10.6 so we're not hiring you." Apparently this has the added benefit of saving the companies money since if the job doesn't get filled then they're not paying the salary to anyone, meaning bigger bonuses for the management. Also, don't expect a quick improvement in the job market as companies have employees over a barrel and currently can get them to do more for less money. Why should they increase their workforce when their current employees can work themselves to death and are easily replaced by desperate, out of work citizens when they drop from exhaustion? |
