A coworker pointed me toward a new browser that he uses whenever he has to go to a site that insists on using Internet Explorer. Check it out at http://www.deepnetexplorer.com/

Sees to have some very nice features.

To be honest, the GUI looks a year behind all but IE unless the appearance can be severely stripped down. I got away from Opera and FF because the same tab placement isn't good for quick glances (haven't used Opera in a very long time though). I like how Chrome came with nothing but an address bar and tab bar. Anything more is clutter for browsing but that makes having quick access to Tools and Favorites having to be simple and intuitive. The security features seem to be the same as the rest. Even the latest IE has the same things except it just sucks in usage. The only extra seems to be P2P but I'd rather have a more proven P2P client. They all can be added to a browser.

What is really cool is the extra mouse gestures. That is plain smart. They are supposed to be integrated into Chrome in either an update or new version (soon I hope).

After posting I noticed the last beta is quite old so yeah, the interface is going to look dated and I have to question just how compatible it is with current sites. Mouse gestures was one of the things I loved about Opera but they kept adding stuff until it was bogged down just as much as the more popular browsers of the time. Chrome was very fast when it came out as a bare bones app but it's also getting pretty hefty these days.

I'm not worried about the program size since software isn't keeping up with drive space (finally). I've moved to liking minimalist appearance of programs where accessing the menu options is still very quick.

I noticed Chrome wants people to grab apps for their browser. This seems like a nice concept to grab games and other features to integrate into the browser to bring all your internet apps into one interface. Has anyone done this yet? I'm tempted to start adding things but I also don't want to garble things up with a bunch of crap.

I wasn't clear. File size doesn't bother me nearly as much as bloat and degraded performance as more stuff gets added.

True. I don't want to wait for a browser to load like it's Photoshop. I'm thinking apps won't do it unless you have them always running.

It got ridiculous loading Opera. Then Firefox came around and was fast, which got me hooked. Unfortunately, now it's starting to get a bit too broad in the britches as well.
