These data indicate that cellular senescence is causally implicated in generating age-related phenotypes and that removal of senescent cells can prevent or delay tissue dysfunction and extend healthspan.

Here we show that in the BubR1 progeroid mouse background, INK-ATTAC removes p16Ink4a-positive senescent cells upon drug treatment.

The article suggests the opposite...

The article states that senescent cells are non-reproducing and help limit the proliferation of tumor (cancer) cells. My interpretation is you won't grow old as fast but you're more likely to get cancer.

I reread all that jargon and found that mention. But I think the focus is on problems such as loss of eyesight or stemming the loss of such. I can see a huge benefit in stemming going blind due to aging or bone loss if a person has no history of cancer. It sounds like a possible first step in coming up with something that could duplicate the secretions without causing buildup in the cells which leads to an incredibly long list of age problems. We are leaning closer to perfect body condition up until the exact moment of death. I am fine with this. I also am fine with misreading an article with mind numbing scientific jargon!

That's why I included the translation in the original post :)

Of course, in Brave New World folks all looked like they were 23 right up until they died of old age at about 60.

edit: fixed typo
