Holy Anthologies Batman! I had no idea that SyFy had picked up options on the Wild Card books. Honestly, creators would have to work really hard to make a tv series fail since the books themselves are collections of stories by different authors set in the same universe. If you're interested in learning more about the series created by the author of Songs of Fire and Ice then you should check out this article. He pretty much nailed it on the head that you'll like some books better than others. But don't assume the ones he mentioned are the ones you'll like/dislike the most 'cause everyone seems to have their own favorites. You'll meet Golden Boy in the first book. He's a character you'll love to hate because he's incredibly powerful with a will to do what's right and and the ultimate Boy Scout poster boy. That doesn't mean he doesn't screw up royally on occasion. I'm truly psyched by the possibility of this being a tv or movie series. |

I suspect this was optioned solely because HBO picked up Song of Fire and Ice. |

You have more faith in SyFy than I do, apparently. |

I mostly avoid anthologies because if the quality isn't sporadic, the styles will be. Never cared for that under one cover. Is Wild Cards all set in Martin's world? |

This almost seems like it could be one of those situations where something is optioned to prevent another studio from developing it, as much as to develop it on their own. :D |

Companies do horde properties forever just so a competitor won't make profit on it. Happens constantly to the delight of fans. |

Martin was the editor on the series, if I recall. He spent some time pimping the series between book 3 and book 4 of Song of Fire and Ice, which earned him the ire of many loyal fans.
I have only one thing to say to that. Edited by Benevolance, Nov 1 2011, 05:47 PM.

Speaking of Joss Whedon, have I mentioned that there are plans to reboot BtVS? Whedon turned down doing it so it'll definitely be different. |

We are just starting season 4 of Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I've heard that season 2 and 3 were the best of the series, but hopefully the next four seasons are still entertaining. |

Oh yeah, the musical episode was the best! You'll want to play it over and over and over and over! The episode where nobody could make any noise at all while demons hunted them had a pretty good creep factor. Oh, and Willow went gay in that ep. |
