We'll start with a brief consideration of what this movie is not. It is not a serious take on a well-known and respected story. It's not a historical look at France in the 1600s. It's not a period piece.

What is it, then? Well, it's just fun. If you're in the mood to see some cool sword fights, airship battles over Paris, and some cheesy villains, then you're in luck. You've got Milla Jovavich in a corset, Orlando Bloom being a smarmy, evil bastard, and Ray Stevenson doing what he apparently does best- drinking and kicking ass. It doesn't follow the plot of the story strictly- Buckingham is a villain, rather than a victim in this one- but it keeps some of the storyline, and I didn't really mind most of the changes. The costumes are pretty, the fights are good, the villains are entertaining, and Morgan and I left the theater really wanting to play a Seventh Sea campaign. I don't know if I would have paid $10 to see it, and I doubt it's worth the extra money for 3D, but for a matinee ticket, it was a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Just the review I was hoping. It looked like it could be really bad but Milla in a corset alone nearly sells it. I've seen about six movies about the Musketeers or relating closely to them. I don't feel like anything close to historical anymore. Queuing this one up. Thanks.
