This video has apparently been around for a month or so, but it's still insanely awesome to me. Most of those who were fans of Cowboy Bebop or Firefly may well feel the same way.

That looks very, very cool. Twenty bucks says Fox signs it, orders a full season, airs the episodes in the wrong order, moves the timeslot twice in seven episodes, then cancels the series as a failure before Christmas.

A fool and his money are soon parted. I like to think I'm not a fool so I'll not be taking you up on that bet.

I liked the actors and the action much more than the voice over and the feel of the trailer. I have an idea the trailer didn't capture how cool it really was (for me anyhow).

I liked the voice over. Although, the video was a bit skittish for me, so I lost the sense of the action a bit. But it still seemed like a very cool premise. I totally agree with Kishi's Cowboy Bebop sentiment.

You're right, it was skittish but I liked what I saw. Many of the quick shots could have been extended for a couple more seconds to process what was going on.

It reminded me of our Serenity pbp but with a more happy-go-lucky cast.

The site I first found it on described it as "Cowboy Bebop + Firefly + Ocean's Eleven." Seemed pretty apt to me.

I liked the voice-over. It does help establish the setting and an antagonist.

Okay, I have a beef. It's not specific to this show, because I think this one could be very, very cool. But I was reminded of something when Jenn and I watched Mummy 3.

It's the new fangled, jumpy, quick camera cut away action sequences for fights. It is over-used and mis-used. I understand that the point is to make the combat seem frenetic and the action more intense. It is also useful when the actors themselves are not very good at martial combat, because it can disguise those shortcomings. But from an audience point of view, it just makes the action hard to follow.

It was especially painful in the Mummy 3 because...it was Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li fighting! You cannot tell me that these two actors cannot produce a smooth, single-shot combat sequence that is intense! Bolshevik, I say! Bolshevik!

This has been happening for some time in movies. The worst is when you can only barely tell who even got hit in a fight scene. When it's over, I always find myself thinking "oh wow, I think that was the best fight scene ever... or the worst". I can't tell.

Yeah, it's not a recent development, but it's still a poor development. I keep hoping it will pass. But it seems to be spreading, even into films where it isn't necessary.

The first movie I can actively recall doing that was Gladiator. And it was made even worse by the film apparently skipping frames during that first fight sequence at the very beginning. I thought it was intentional but everyone tells me they don't remember it doing that. It was also used in the combat scenes in In the Name of the King with Jason Statham who definitely doesn't need a crutch to look good in combat either.

For me, Gladiator seem fine. I suppose we all have our certain limits to the speed of cut scenes.

Like I said, it seemed to be skipping frames, about 2 out of 5, when I saw it. Maybe if it had been playing correctly I wouldn't have felt like losing my lunch. It didn't help we were only 2 rows back from the front because the place was packed. I really should acquire it and see how that scene looks.

I'm kind of annoyed that this was just a promo piece and not an actual trailer for a series. I really want to see how much promise this series could develop before Fox cancels it.

That boggled me a bit. Are they trying to get a following or internet interest in the work so a network will pick the pilot up? I don't think an internet following is worth much to a network just yet. Maybe another decade or two.
