There is now an iPhone app for 4e Dungeons and Dragons.

Features include:

* Multiple characters (never be without your favorite character again as long as you have your iPhone with you).
* Import characters from D&D Insider Character Builder .dnd4e files
* Easily enter damage and track hit points and healing surges as well as temporary hit points.
* Track powers including calculated hit bonus and damage values including assignable weapons and implements that will be factored into the calculated values.
* Track power usage (All types of powers, as well as ones that burn healing surges or return hit points from their usage).
* Easily accessible list of skills with the bonuses for your level and current ability scores.
* Track your Class Features, Racial Traits, and Feats.
* Usable for NPCs and PCs.
* Fully supports any custom skills or powers, only basic melee and ranged attack, second wind and basic skills added by default Most powers can be partially imported from a .dnd4e file (some information is not included in the save file)
* Doesn't require an internet connection to use the app (importing will require a connection during the import)

It is available at the iTune App store. For more information, check out the Cordax Software 4e app site. I will be checking on other D&D and rpg apps on the Google network for it's Android software which is on a multitude of different phones.

A very nice development. I'll still not be buying an iPhone anytime soon though :)

The app costs $3.99. I haven't checked out the Google Market Place yet but I suspect you'll find them for free when they do show up. It's going to be interesting to see the Google/Apple fight. Google rolled out their own phone (not just software) that has the better tech, style and functions over iPhone but Apple is far ahead in the amount of apps. Nexus can be bought unlocked and the Android software is already on other company's phones (open source as well).

The problem with these latest smart phones is that when you find the one that fits you, you'll find it very hard to ever go back to a regular phone. The HTC Eris Droids we got were perfect for us and I find myself using it all the time (especially with ecoupon app combined with being able to scan bar codes and take pics of items which are automatically matched up to prices online of Amazon and their hundreds of affiliates). They'll eliminate GPS units when they are able to extend battery life awhile longer. Mine has GPS, apps for using it to hike, Google GPS map and so on. They're addictive little bastards :(

Yeah, I've been holding out on getting a smart phone as long as I can. (Actually, what I'd love would be an MP3 player that runs Android, but my little Zen isn't going to last that long, so I may break down and get an iPod touch eventually.) My sister loves her Droid, and I'll likely end up getting either the Droid or the Eris when I'm up for renewal later this year- but, c'mon, who names their phone after the goddess of chaos? Seems like bad marketing to me. :P

Really, every time an AT&T ad reminds me how the iPhone has so many more apps available than the Droid, I wonder how many of them are actually *useful* apps, and how many are putting cats in all your pictures...

There must be some reason they are paying Lucas to use the Droid name... I'm waiting to see what pops up with that.

All the apps with Google I use are free. The few that cost money have free alternates. Most are freeware or have very tiny ads

Google will take over the world with open source.

And that's keeps causing B.Gates to wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night.
