Well. It's not quite dead yet. In fact, I think it may be getting better. I feel happy. Happppyyyyy! The monitor in the arcade cabinet has decided that it wanted to be a wide screen. To acheive this stunning effect with a 4:3 fixed screen, it crapped out and now projects the whole screen image only onto the upper half of the screen. Everything is all scrunched up vertically. I haven't had a chance to really troubleshoot it. I adjust the pins briefly, turned it on and off. Has a year of continuous pwn-age has finally worn the poor beast down? Any suggestions on a possible fix? I've already sourced a second 20" CRT that was destined for recycling, but it's a pain to swap out. I'd be happier with a quick fix that doesn't involved me re-painting the bezel. Although, on the bright side, this would take care of the glass chip. :D Edited by Benevolance, Dec 4 2009, 08:44 PM.

Sometimes adjusting your refresh up or down will help but usually when they do that it's time to play Taps. |

Hmm. I could give that a try. I was also going to fiddle with the cords some more. And try blowing some dust out of the top. :D My primary concern is that I cut the physical bezel to match the dimensions of the now-dying monitor. If the new monitor is a very different size, this could suck and require actual work. |

I was going to offer my technical knowledge, but then I saw that you already tried turning it off and on again. I'm out of ideas. |

You should blow the dust out as hard as you can. If that doesn't work, shove the connection together hard. Still not working? Take a game cartridge sleeve and jam it in with it to force the |

I have now picked up three monitors from my parents. I think that my dad has decided this is a great opportunity to offload his 18" monitors, because I have yet to get that 20" CRT he promised... |
