Why is our President the only leader of a country to bow to other world leaders? What do our non-American neighbors to the Frozen North think of his actions? Does this seem like just simple courtesy or does it give an appearance of obeisance by our country?

Somebody should tell the guy that made the video that there's a difference between a premiere and a premier.

I don't think it matters one way or another. We bowed to absolutely everybody we met in Japan. They all start bobbing and it's infectious. You can't help but join in.

But we're talking about the leaders of two countries and the emperor didn't bow back from what I've been able to gather.

The emperor is not the political leader of Japan, he is a figure head. In much the same way that the Queen is still the figurehead of the British commonwealth. You meet the queen, you show her courtesay. She doesn't have to show the same level of courtesy back. :D

Watching the video now, Obama looks like he overdid it. But it also looks like emperor is bowing acknowledgement back, but at a more appropriate amount.

I just wanted the opinions of real folks instead of just regurgitating what's been blogged by the faceless masses :)

On foreign relations, I think he means well but leaves Americans unsure of what he means.

I believe that issue inspired a month's worth of tv time to women and arm workouts. I think the focus should be on how she looks more like a Klingon spying on the Federation.

..what, you haven't prepared contingency plans on the eventual chance the Klingons conquer Earth? I, for one, welcome out new aggressive overlords.
