I just caught a band on Jango. The group is One Man's Trash Band. Riproaring southern blues. I haven't had a chance to check out the site much, but the song I really liked was Bad Case of the Blues. Find it if you can, because it's pretty awesome. |

I'm starting to think Canadians are secretly southern Americans in disguise (minus fried foods and racism). Having moved here, Elmira has ended up listening to southern rappers, some southern rock and loving Cajun culture and food. Now it's you and Stevie Ray Vaughn, blues, jazz and southern rock. Good find :) You can find more on Koch's work here with a handful of free downloads Edited by lgm, Oct 20 2009, 06:19 PM.

I spent my teen years listening to and playing a lot jazz and blues. Southern rock keeps the tradition alive, yo! Nothing beats extended solos by the whole band built on a solid blues progression that demonstrates each individual's musical prowess. Especially because a lot of the modern, progressive jazz sucks. :( |

Elmira listens to the local jazz station occasionally but it's nothing like jazz from its roots. I find it so very bland and unappealing. It's as if they're attempting to do a new jazz when it has already evolved naturally into various forms of rock, big band, swing and blues. If you're going to play jazz then play jazz, dammit! I do love the old New Orleans Dixieland style. |

You didn't think I forgot about this, did you?! This band rocks so much, I decided to make my first digital download purchase and bought the album. $10 for this much awesome music was too hard to resist. |

I really like it. The guitar playing is beyond phenomenal and the rhythm section is tight. Some songs are definitely a lot more solid than others, and will get a heavier rotation. It's not a brilliantly complete album - like Costello music where every track is golden - but there is enough great songs peppered with a few good enough songs to make it a worthwhile purchase. If you are a fan of southern rock, you'll probably get a lot out of it. |
