Some of you may have heard that Atlanta and the Southeast is being deluged in rain. My time online has been limited due to baby prep, work, phone calls with various insurance companies... and now severe thunderstorms. The PC has been running very little considering the freaking lightning won't stop. I'm upstream from my oldest brother. Where he is at they have flooding from only rain where schools have been shut down and are being used for shelter. I am making calls for work and arranging work.. but otherwise can't actually perform any of the work due to the non-stop rain. There better be some dude come back from the dead hanging around with a crow somewhere in Atlanta. And he better hurry up with his vengeance because I'm getting sick of tired of having my hands tied here. The forecast is showing rain all week :( |

Not typically having issues with lightning around here...don't surge protectors protect the computer from damage during a lightning storm? |

I don't trust them as I had in the past. The street lights seem to enjoy taking direct hits and sending massive surges into the homes. On a quality surge protector, I lost a router, video card and modem. When we first moved in many years ago, a direct hit to the street light took damaged the leg outside my home. The power company quickly came out to replace it but I wasn't aware it was the leg that was damaged. I spent half the day on the phone with the builder's company trying to figure out what was screwed up in my house wiring. With the damaged leg, only half the house was getting power but if I turned on the washer or dryer, the other half of my house would light up and tv would come on. I was paranoid the whole place was going to burn down since the house was newly constructed (wired). |

I saw a great video of a car in Georgia that got swallowed by a sink hole. The sink hole was exactly large enough all around the car to to swallow the car perfectly and wholly. It was awesome. |

There was a nice picture of 2 cars being swallowed by a road caving in from a sinkhole thanks to the rain. It was made funny by a woman unknowingly driving into it and then her mother drove into it and atop of her later on her way to visit. Missouri has the best sinkholes. South of St. Louis is littered with them as there are underground caves everywhere near the surface. Large ponds, homes and estates disappear overnight once in awhile. |
