I had never heard of this guy before, but he had a three song track pack available for download on Rock Band. Thanks to RBDLC.com, I was quickly able to find a video of his Caprice di Diablo.

This is listed as the most difficult guitar song available for Rock Band, although I would dispute that. I think that honour should go to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Rude Mood:

Edit:
This version has a little cleaner audio and is closer to the original master version.

I'd post a RB version, but there are no clean reads of the song!

Since we're posting videos of awesome guitar work, I'd be remiss to not include this song.

Parazula written and played by Celso Machado

I'm sure theres a full version out there, but this one gives you enough of the cool parts. :D

Damn! That's awesome. And on an accoustic, no less. Rockstars have it much easier playing electrics, because you don't have to strum everything to get sound.

That is awesome indeed. I never got into Stevie Ray's music much but it was played heavily on the radio here up until a couple years ago. It was worth catching the guitar work even though I wasn't a fan.

That is just insane. And nice that it was not done perfectly so you know there's actually a human playing the game.

I can only counter that with the blues.

Rockband released two of Joe Satriani's more well know pieces this week.

Surfing with the Alien

Satch Boogie

I downloaded both, just in case we break out the Rock Band after some Zombies tonight.

Surfing would make for a pretty hard Rock Band song to play.

It's Nightmare band difficulty, but only Nightmare for guitar and 4's for bass and drums. Satch Boogie is a little easier, but still Nightmare.

We've now got about seven or eight songs that are vocal-free, so we can do an actual set without a vocalist. Lately, nobody that comes over really wants to do just vocals, so either me or Nighthawk ends of singing while we play guitar. I even sang while playing drums once. But that was really, really hard. There is a reason Genesis has two drummers on tour.

You just ruined the thread mentioning Genesis :(

How does the game track the singing? I always wondered how that worked.

Blue jeans sittin' on the beach / her dog is talking to me but she's out of reach / she's got a body, under that shirt / but the only thing she'll rub is my face in the dirt.

Phil Collins rulz, yo! Genesis has some crazy great songs.

Re: RB vocals. It tracks the pitch. You don't have to get the words correct, but you do need to get the pitch correct. At the different difficulty levels, the pitch tolerance decreases.

On easy, if you're within about a whole tone of the actual note, you'll get great marks. On expert, you have about 1/8th tone tolerance.

I've had to squash my jazz vocal tendancy of adding vibrato at the end of a phrase to warm the note (and disguise my poor vocal quality), because the vibrato ends up putting the pitch outside the tolerance, and I lose the multiplier.

I was thinking it worked some other way to forgive bad singers. It's great to show people in their own homes that they suck so maybe they won't audition for American Idol.

Nope. A buddy of mine worked as a sound engineer developing software for karaoke machines. The machines worked similar to the sound machines that popstars have used for years - it basically takes what the person sings, and force maps it to the correct pitch, but still retains much of the vocal sound. Essentially, as long as you sang 'pretty good' it would make you sound awesome. Very useful for concerts where you don't get nineteen takes to lay down your music.

Only this machine could go a step further, and morph your vocals to sound like an existing singer. You could sound like late Frank Sinatra, even if you sang into the mic in your best British choir boy. It was really impressive, and very popular in asia.

We turned on No Fail last night so everyone could play through Satch Boogie and Surfing with the Alien on expert. It was hilarious.

On Surfing with the Alien, I switched to the solo buttons, which work a little more like a simple keyboard. I found that easier to catch the endless, endless, endless, endless, endless hammer ons/pull offs. I could see getting used to using the solo buttons on some of these really noodley sections of the Nightmare tracks. Unfortunately, that only works in the solo sections.
