Philinphecite

Hello everyone, my alias is Philinphecite and I will be discussing with you today a few things about this Grand Online Adventure.

I have been an on and off player for a few years now and I have grown to appreciate this game because of its unique system. Unfortunately it has continued to disappoint me because it lacks what every game should include: a story. I mean this game started out changing the face of BYOND with its astounding combat and addictive content. While this was happening other games were still meditating and punching bags and/or something similar.

Now my point is, I would actually enjoy the adventure if there actually was an adventure. This game has no adventure. There is no risk or unusual experience that happens in this game. It's simply to spend pointless hours fighting and doing the same missions over and over again; which if you think about can get just as repetitive and boring as meditating and punching bags.

Now I suppose it becomes difficult to incorporate a story all players can follow along with at the same time. That is why I made this topic. I hope we; as a player base, can come together and create a unique experience for everyone. I am not entirely certain how to do this but I would definitely like to read some feedback and put together suggestions that would result in a grand online adventure.

Join my efforts. Thank you.

P.S. Correct my grammar if I'm wrong. I always enjoy learning from my mistakes.

Yeah thats entirely possible. We create a single player mode where you can take your characters through a tale and enjoy a whole new experience. I like that, good thinking. Keep em coming everyone. I hope to see this expand further.

According to MasterDan this game is set during the third great shinobi world war. So everything taking place within game is before the time of the anime/manga. Any kind of actual story and events would be either extremely rare or virtually impossible to do. In a lot of RPGs such as EVE online or Anarchy online the game is story driven as there's always something going on in the universe that would end up effecting everyone.

The reasons that it'd be almost impossible to succeed in GOA are pretty simple.

  • Not enough people are willing to role-play
  • The game was not coded to support a story driven persistent world
  • Kobata's current focus does not involve a story based world
  • Kobata probably doesn't even want to make it a story based persistent world
  • Newbies often ignore things like this, all they care about are killing people and running from death

Compelling argument. No matter the time frame it doesn't mean we can't make a story or even just start from the beginning of the anime. Not like were following any story from the third great shinobi world war anyway.

Now I didn't really imagine having players sit there and RP cause that can be just as boring. What I imagine so far is an option on the main menu to load your character into a single player adventure. In this adventure you would play through a story. This story may be from the show or something discussed and put together by our forum.

Now playing through a chapter of this adventure would give you a reward for your efforts. Maybe an article of clothing, Level Points, and/or something else to drive that player to complete the next chapter in his grand online adventure. Each chapter would also increase in difficulty and would also require the player to be at a certain level before he can start the next selected chapter. Therefore pushing him back into the multiplayer.

Further, the chapters can also be replayed. Replaying a chapter though will not reward you with any spoils and is merely for the fun of it. Of course any LP you earn fighting in combat during the adventure would still be awarded normally. The single player is essentially the multiplayer but with dynamic effects and possible cut scenes.

Also on a side note, maybe the option to invite a friend to join you on your chapter? One can also imagine inviting a whole squad to partake in the single player fun but thats another story.

Take it in. Dispute with reason. Thanks for reading.

GOA actually is an RPG. It has the same elements as many RPG's. There is just no story to follow and work towards completing.

Maybe not a story driven persistent world, but official RPing events that would actually change the course of the game(or at least of a series of RP events) would definitely be exciting.

While it would definitely be cool to have role playing events and consequences from them, the real problem lies in the content that has to be added before things like that can happen, for example.

If Kobata wanted to have some role playing content involving kidnapping. He could make it possible for a village to capture a Kage or VIP and hold him for ransom. Kobata would first need to make money much more valuable than it already is. Maybe through the form of taxing where a kage could set the tax percentage to take some money away every time someone completes a mission and stores it into the village treasury. This money could be used for the purpose of recruiting more guards, upgrading existing ones, giving out as a cash prize for winning a tournament or event, rebuilding a village that's been destroyed due to raiding(another kind of role playing event), etc. Adding in each of those things will take a lot more time than the kidnapping code itself.

I'm going to get straight to the point. Kobata isn't motivated enough to add content that's so in-depth. It takes too much time and it's too much of a hassle.

What Loki said, RPing Events but i prefer any kind of event for example:
Kobata makes random characters. Real players control them of course no one wants to fight NPC's. They go and attack one of the three konoho/suna/kiri. We just have to defend our village from these event characters.

i know i kinda explained this noobish but it just poped in my head right now x)

I actually like this idea. A treasury to make your village stronger. Maybe even expand beyond that and look at other functions similar to this. I have a new topic that I will post tomorrow. I'm too tired to summarize it all right now. Good night forum.
