Okay, time for introductions. Everybody say hi! Tell us who you are and what you're about.

Me, I'm Seth. Also known as "Uncle Seth" or "The-guy-who-is-paranoid-about-revealing-his-last-name-on-the-internet". I'm a kid in our homeschool group, but you probably don't know me because I never show up for anything. Sorry, but I'm no good at roller skating...

Anyway, my favorite things to do include shooting, writing, martial arts, hunting, reading, and wasting time on computers (obviously). I run these forums and the GoshenHomeschoolers.org website.

I'm a Christian. I go to Berean Bible Church in Torrington, but I take Bushidokan classes and raid potlucks at Riverside. Go figure.

Politically, I'm a minarchist libertarian.

Next!

Hello everybody. My name is Kathy, and I'm Seth's mom. We've been homeschooling, well, since 1990. We have a little farmstead on half-an-acre just outside Torrington, with two dairy goats, and I'm trying to grow fruit trees and a little garden. I hope this forum can be a place where we can find help and encouragement.

Hi I'm Kristina and I am Myriah, Taryn and Garretts mom. We have been homeschooling for 6 years now. I enjoy gardening, reading. I am the support group leader of our group here in Torrington. I'm looking forward to just talking...

Hi, I'm Cindy and I've been homeschooling my 15 year old son, Joshua , for 5 years. I like cooking, baking, gardening, nutrition, fitness, reading, birdwatching and lots of other stuff that I don't really have time to do. I live in the country on a few acres. I attend the very small Hawk Springs Bible Church. Politically, I vote for anyone who supports less government and upholds God's moral law. Unfortunately, there's not much to choose from in that catagory! Uh, Seth, what is a minarchist?

Well, glad to see everybody is starting to show up! Y'all feel free to post new topics, ask questions, suggest new forum sections...whatever.

It's is a sort of offshoot from the word "anarchist". Whereas anarchy means no government, minarchy means minimal government. It holds that the only legitimate purpose of the State is to protect the liberty and property of individuals (without violating those things in the process). Period!

Hi, I really really do not know if this forum even still has people visiting. There isn't a way to see how many have been here recently. Most posts are from at least a year ago...
I will tell a bit about myself anyway (in case anyone is still out there):
My name is Blossom and we moved to Torrington from Irrigon, OR in December of 2008. I am the mother of Colleen and Jeffery. I am attending college fulltime (distance program) to get my AA degree this June *fingers crossed*. There are many many things I enjoy but lack the time usually to actually enjoy them. Reading is the biggest interest I have but after all the books I have to read for classes, I really don't want to pick up a book just for fun. I hope that changes after I graduate... I enjoy gardening, sewing, drawing, cooking ... all of these things are an enjoyment, none of them I am particularly gifted at :D
I am going to start 'officially' homeschooling in the Fall (2009) because I just cannot stand the school system any longer and I am missing out so much on my children's lives (and they are missing out on so many opportunities because they are held back while in school).
So that is a little bit about me. I really hope that there are active 'members' out there. I would love to get in touch with other homeschoolers in the area.

Hello Blossom,

Yes we are all out here. We put up this forum about a year ago on our site. I have mentioned it to our homeschoolers. I think it is just a matter of time for all to join the forum.

Anyway my name is Kristina, and I am the support group leader for Goshen County homeschoolers. I have been homeschooling for 8 years now and have enjoyed every minute of it. We would love to have you join in with us if you would like. Every activity and fieldtrip are posted to our site if you would like to join us. If you have any questions please give me a call.

Kristina
