Well, in an attempt to provoke some conversation in this cyber-ghost-town, I figured I would blatantly abuse my admin powers by posting in the parents' section. It's good to be king. Heheh, anyway, I just thought it would be interesting to ask y'all the question: why homeschool? Because, in my experience, that's the first question "outsiders" have...if they say anything, that is. Two real-life questions I remember were "Why do people homeschool? Are they really that unsatisfied with the public schools?", and "Why do you homeschool? Don't you know that the [public school] enrollments are down this year?" Joe Schmoe on the street genuinely does not know our reasons for homeschooling, and conversely, our reasons for not government-schooling. So, to answer these people: why do you homeschool? What are the logical reasons for choosing that path? Or make it personal - what's the story of how you came to your decision to homeschool? Hopefully this thread will make us less of an enigma to any visitors we might get, as well as provide a bit of mutual encouragement... |
