No, I shopped the phoenix and sun together and changed the colors around. We can legally use it tho because I changed the image at least 10%. Plus, even if I hadn't, we're not selling anything with it. Found the phoenix on DeviantArt btw. |

i really like it... top notch work jo that would be perfect for your personal heraldry, i'm impressed i like the drawing a lot. but again i would feel uncomfortable having a realm symbol that looked so much like the ebf unit symbol... they are my unit cousins and they would give me shit for sure, so would my unit brothers and sisters still i wouldn't be mad if it won the vote either way but anyways i like the sun and the phoenix rising out of it, perfect depiction of "bird on fire" and the color scheme is nice reminds me of germany but its still original ![]() fugl brenna in runes on the bottom??? add birds up top according to rank?????? ![]() i have some screen printed gear and it chips after time like paint too... it looks good for a while but after years of constant abuse it fades. embroidery is the only way to really keep a crisp clear image for life, my mom in michigan has an auto digitizing sewing machine i could see if i could send her the image file and see if she could throw together some belt flags once we've decided on a banner/flag. thats unless it would be cheaper to have done here than have them shipped from mi. which would be relatively cheap but might take a short time longer to receive so it wouldn't be worth it if we found a good price locally Edited by tiji, Nov 13 2008, 09:26 AM.

I like this design. Tis simple. On a different note, why keep the huge black part on the top? A banner could just be orange and red and belt flags can be orange field with a black bird on it. Would make shield covers simple by making the field be black or orange with a black bird or orange bird on it. Also, Shall there be a border on the flag? A cloth border that is doubled and possibly filled with cotton will help keep the longevity of the banner edges. A one inch black boarder would help make the banner pop and save the banner from rips. As much as I like this desighn I can't help thinking that it would work better on a black background. it makes it pop out more than orange and red on orange and red. Here is a rough photoshop of what I was thinking:

So far I think I like Tiji's version best... I really like the runes at the bottom...and it does look a bit German...which is kind of like one of the things I DIDNT like about my original version...it reminded me too much of some Nazi shit...I dont think thats what we're going for...but I dont think there'd be any connotations with Tiji's version...but my question is then, are our colors then red, orange and black?...or still just red and black ("screw you orange...just 'cause youre on the flag doesnt mean youre one of our colors!")...it would make things simple to just have two colors...plus, admitedly, I dont think Im a fan of orange as a representative color...dont get me wrong, its a cool color and all...it has its place for general use, but whenever I see orange uniforms or such I cringe a little...an IDEA to remedyu this might be to do a gradient between red and black like on the original banners Juicer posted (where the orange melds into the cobalt and vice versa...)...on cloth this might be difficult though and my only thought for an answer would be to use a tie die technique to get the gradient... But I did the runes... Not so fond of the triangle/pyramids at the bottom...(do we need them?) I like the phoenixs (what is the plural of phoenix?) in the top (black) row...I think the look less interesting the ornge though (a rhyme!)...AND it seems too many by that point...MAYBE for rank designation the phoenai (?) get smaller and stay within the black portion of the banner?...Or, since it seems cool to have something up in that portion we just put the three phoenixeseses (or something else) just for looks and not rank designation...but then maybe the number should mean/represent something (like 50 stars, 13 stripes, etc.)... Oh...also, does the grey of the sun become one of our colors too? |

The triangle/diamonds at the bottom were just an accidental thing that happened while I was trying to make the bottom relatively symmetrical, and I only noticed them after I posted. If you look closely, they're on my original. I like the runes as well. I'm not sure how I feel about red and black. It is a really over-used color set. I was mostly trying to stay away from black as a major color in most of my designs, even though it does go with everything (the main reason it's so common). I'll let you in on a secret, every single one of the colors I've used so far (with the exception of black) is a color found in the gorgeous sunset here. I'm a big fan of natural beauty, and the Phoenix sunset is amazing. So I figured I'd vaguely reference something notable of the realms area, so when people look at the banner, they get a subtle hint of "sunset". Again, I'm more than willing to go along with anything the group decides on with no qualms whatsoever, the last thing I want to do is impose my ideas on you guys. I just wanted to let you know where I'm coming from on an art standpoint. Oh, and the 'gray' is more of a grayish (I want to say slate?) blue on my monitor. Again, I was going with the sunset motif and needed a color to make the phoenix stand out better. As far as "Official" realm colors? Going by that banner, I'd say orange and red, allowing black or the 'slate' for any trim or detail work on garb and weapons. |

Oh, by the way, here's a higher-res version of the logo itself. In case anyone else wants to play some more with it.

i actually like red and orange if i were to pick only two colors but i must admit i'm not to fond of orange (i've been forced into one to many orange jump suits in my life) but i like it better than red and black... that looks frickin sweet though josh! minus the triangle shapes which are just a bi product of juicer's hard work, theres a lot of good ideas here it will be hard for me to choose one.... i'm really glad your here juice man what about rank insignia???? what should we use something like ![]() and this is what i was thinking for a Baseleis/ Knights chain

That all makes sense... in going with the areas colors, and since it is trim, how about going with a reddish brown like what youd find in Sedona instead of the grey for the sun?...its more local, could be a sun color more than grey would be and MIGHT look cool against the other colors (Im not sure though and I dont have access to my Photoshop right now to play around and find out) ...not that there is anything wrong with grey either...just an idea...actually, the grey does look pretty good though... |

Tiji, it's hard to tell from that pic... is that just a box weave? If so, I think I have enough aluminum rings on me to whip one out. It'd probably just be temporary until we could get our hands on some better material. |
