I think, depending on what you had in mind, that making a legal pick-hammer will be like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Trouble is, a pick hammer would essentially be a scythe; long and narrow tapering to a sharp point. With scythes, if you build the blade to be sturdy, it'll hit too hard to pass, and if you build it to pass, it'll be so flimsy that it'll fall apart the first time you use it.

If it were me, the best I could advise would be to construct one side like a decent sized hammer and the other like a small axe-head. It may not be exactly what you were looking for, but it may be as close as you can get. The Dag Rules are pretty unfriendly to things like rapiers and scythes that taper to a small point; they CAN be made, but you want to use them, you've got to be ready to sacrifice the aesthetics of the item (as I learned on my first miserable failure of an attempt to make an axe)

That's my two cents in. Spend them how you please.

Also, no. stabbing tips on swung weapons are not legal. if it isn't in the rules, it is in the list of banned weapons.
If you'd like to give it a once over you can, but I find nothing in the rules banning. I've checked the banned weapons list and it's not in there.

Thing is, as we all well know, no chapter follows every single rule to the letter, each has an interpretation, and the overall general interpretation of the rules, at least from what i've seen/read/experienced, is that red/blue = swung, green = thrust. And interpretation is something you will never change, because that takes away any of the passing authority of the weapons checkers, something that's needed far more than swung greens. In addition, what nick says is really true, there's no point really to making a swung green when a red/blue is much more effective (damaging armor on 1h hits, destroying shields on 2h hits, etc.) The rules also say:

4.4.3 - To penetrate armor, a green weapon must be THRUST with both hands from the beginning of the thrust until it has connected solidly with the target.

And in the end, it doesn't matter WHAT the rules say; if the physics don't add up, it's not gonna work.

Basically, if you want my overall opinion on the matter, I'd say that while, technically, yes, a green weapon could be made, the effort and engineering that would be involved to make it safe, plus the issue of bartering it past weapons checkers, PLUS the confusion of an opposing fighter if you yelled "green" on a swung weapon hit, it's really just going to end up being worth a lot more headaches on your part than the heads of your enemies you'd collect wielding it

savetuba "To simplify, swung = blue/red. Thrust = Green. A striking surface of 2.5"+ that is swung is still a blue/red, not a green."

not correct. a blue has a minimum length of striking surface. greater than 2.5"

That /\ is legal in most dag groups and I doubt it is 12". The idea behind max's original post was to have something close to that /\ size on the back swing of a weapon.

Depends on how big the hammer is...if i'm right, and the handle is about an inch in diameter, the striking surface looks to be about 4-6 inches, from my point of view.
