Thanks for the tip Duer. What about longer ones, like the core for a red sword or a haft for a spear? Where would I/do you get those? |

Alright, I'll see if I can throw some equipment and garb together in time for me to attend. How long is the event? In addition, I started crafting my first weapon tonight. I managed to finish the blade. So far, so good, but is there any particular tool you guys use to get nice straight cuts with foam? As for the blade itself, I think it turned out alright. I'll see if I can put a picture up at some point, or maybe when you and I meet up, Magnus, you can take a look at it and give me feedback. In addition, is there anything specific I should know about coming up with my identity, like any rules or guidelines I have to follow with it? |

If you would like togo to war of the ring with us, which I highly encourage, then I would focus more on the garb. They will have loner equiptment there, so garb should probably be what you want as far as that goes. Granted in order to get a tucson group started you will also need weapons...haha anyway, as far as cutting foam smoothly we've found that the best tool is an electric bread knife. Works like a charm. And as for your identity, do whatever you want! |

Thanks Duer. I'd heard that electric bread knives work well from another person as well, so I think I'll really have to try that. As for attending the event, I don't think that will be a problem as long as I can catch a ride with one of you. I'm willing to help pay for gas if needed. As for my identity, I was thinking of a name something along the lines of Cormac Graysson |

Nothing specific yet. Backstory plot though is of a lowborn man who rose to rose to a respectable position either properly or deviously, but is struggling not to forget his humble origin. By the way, can anyone give me specifics on how to craft a dagger? Any specific way you do it, or do you just use a downsized sword model? If so, is there a guide I can follow for it? In addition, what kind of armor do those of you who wear armor wear? Edited by Cormac Elsinore, Dec 3 2010, 01:39 AM.

Really there are 2 types of weapons that you might could consider a "dagger". A really short blue and an actual green. If you want a dagger you can swing i would say make a minimum length blue but really in game terms this is just a short sword. This would be essentially a scaled down sword. If however you want to stab with it then construction will be completely different. A stabbing dagger needs to follow all of the construction rules for a green and therefore is made in a different fashion. Oftentimes stabbing daggers look more like dog bones than actual weapons. Here is a tutorial: http://www.dagorhir.com/gear/content/weapon_tutorials/narnia_dagger.php Luckily, I have my dagger with me if you need some reference. Mostly in Arizona we have made and used 13 oz leather because all armor has the same rules in dag and leather works best in the desert. However we have seen chain, and steel be used from time to time. |
