Ive been searching around and I can't seem to find what the draw weight limit is on bows and crossbows. Anyone care to inform me? |

The maximum draw weight for bows is 35 lbs at 28 inches draw. the official rule for crossbows is 35 lbs at 12.5 inches draw. But we have been allowing 50 lbs at 7inches draw (the ebay 50lb pistol crossbow.) the old rule for crossbows used to be 15 lbs max at any draw weight. The most effective rule would be 450 ip (inch pounds) to keep it about the power of a half drawn bow. Inch pounds is measured by multiplying the draw weight by the power stroke (the distance from the string at rest to the string fully drawn.) The crossbows we use are 5.25 power stroke x 50 lbs draw weight = 260 ip (way under the power of a half drawn bow) I even made a video to test the safety: test video Tthis is probably more than you asked for but I have done a lot of research on crossbows.

Well, reason I ask is because I wanted to get a full size rifle crossbow to use, but the smallest draw weight I can find is 90 lb with a powerstroke of 11.8 inchs which makes the IP waaay to high. So now I'm wondering if there was some sort of way to rig it to Dag specs? |
