I just thought of something.![]() Instead of making a rectangular Shield, you can have essentially the same protection, with only half the weight, and half as much foam. It's a simple process, just cut out the foam to the rectangular dimensions of the shield, then cut off the corners to make a shape similar the image I posted. As long as the corners come to a point, the excess foam, put together, will be the same shape and size as the large kite shape. 1 = 6, 2 = 5, 3 = 8, 4 = 7 Edited by XononoX, Mar 21 2009, 11:04 PM.

but then if you do that some of the sheild will be weaker since it isint just one piece of foam, a few layers will be made of several peices instead of one, which will make the sheild slightly weaker |

I would put one layer on the back for arm protection, 3 layers on front. Only the 1st layer on the front would be seperate pieces. Plus, I don't really see how 4 pieces of the same foam, covering the same area would be any less structurally sound. |
